Everyone’s favorite Mountain Dew flavor, Baja Blast, is turning 21 this year and to celebrate Taco Bell announced that a brand new Mountain Dew flavor would be dropping exclusively at Taco Bell: Mountain Dew Midnight, a passionfruit Baja Blast spinoff. We’ve been waiting and waiting and now it’s finally here! As Sporked’s resident Mountain Dew enthusiast, I knew it was my duty to try it.

Side note: Although a few photos of bottles of Mountain Dew Baja Midnight have been posted by various creators online, Baja Midnight is NOT getting a release in stores. It will ONLY be available at Taco Bell.

Mountain Dew Baja Midnight

New Mountain Dew Flavor!

Mountain Dew Baja Midnight Review

Pros: This is a CLASSIC Baja Blast spinoff; it has strong passionfruit notes with a hint of Baja Blast lime flavor. Fans of Baja Passionfruit Punch will be very pleased with Baja Midnight as it is very similar (if not identical). At the time of publication, there is both a freeze and a fountain version available of Baja Midnight and both are fantastic.

Cons: I’m a little disappointed that it is so similar to Baja Passionfruit Punch. If you were a fan, I am genuinely very happy for you! However, I can’t help but wish that Baja Midnight would have been a blueberry or blackberry flavor instead. Additionally, why is the freeze limited time!?

Verdict: While Mountain Dew is not reinventing the wheel with this new Mountain Dew flavor, if you were a fan of Baja Passionfruit Punch or love anything passionfruit, then this is sure to be a hit.
