Remember a year ago when Skittles Fuego was released exclusively on GoPuff? Last September? No? Hey, me neither, dawg. Things must have been relatively chill back then because I remember literally nothing from last fall, whereas this year, I can’t forget, no matter how hard I try. Things have been decidedly unchill and very memorable for some reason. But since that kind of unchill is terrible, let’s focus on the better non-chill topic of note this week, aka Fuego Skittles Gummies.
DRAMATIC MOVIE TRAILER VOICE: This summer, the company that brought us Skittles Fuego and award-winning director Ro Cheng (vice president, marketing, Mars Wrigley North America) have teamed up to embark with us on a fantastical whirlwind adventure: new Skittles Gummies Fuego.
Okay, these may not be a cinematic summer blockbuster (sorry, Nicole Kidman!), but we’re excited all the same. Let’s talk about these new Skittles Gummies.
What are Skittles Gummies Fuego? And what were regular Skittles Fuego, for that matter? Did people like them? Will they taste as fuego as they sound in both the metaphorical and the Scoville sense?
Skittles Fuego came out in late September 2024 on GoPuff, and they are essentially Skittles coated in a spicy powder—yes, like those Tajin and chamoy-coated candies that one grandma sells at the farmers market, although probably not as good as hers because let’s face it, nothing is. Reviews we mixed—some liked the spicy powder and others didn’t—but the consensus is that the heat level is considerable for a big commercial candy brand, and people loved that.
A big difference between Skittles Fuego and Skittles Gummies Fuego? The lineup of flavors. While Skittles Fuego came in the usual Skittles flavors (you know, the rainbow), Skittles Gummies Fuego are mango, watermelon, strawberry, raspberry, and lemon, making them look a bit more like the lineup of the Sweet Heat Skittles from back in 2018 (although, those had orange instead of raspberry). These seem like they will essentially be commercially available gummy bears dipped in Tajin, and we are NOT mad at it.
You can pick these up on TikTok shop while supplies last, and if supplies don’t last and you miss it, never fear, Fuego will blast back onto shelves nationwide sometime in 2026. And if you still miss it, we recommend finding your nearest grandma selling spicy candies and scooping up every last sweet and spicy item she has to offer.
