When fellow Sporked contributor and good friend Griffin Parker and I were walking the Sweets & Snacks Expo floor earlier this spring, one of the upcoming releases we were the most excited to see was the Marshmallow flavor of Butterfinger. And though we swung by the booth a few times just to make sure there wasn’t any top-secret sampling going on, we unfortunately left not having the chance to try. Needless to say, Butterfinger Marshmallow has been at the tippy top of my snacks hunting list and I was over-the-moon excited to spot it at Speedway.
According to the brand, Butterfinger Marshmallow is a “limited-edition treat inspired by nostalgic fluffernutter sandwiches, reimagined into a bold new candy experience.” I love me a good fluffernutter sandwich (a peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwich) so I am eager to see how this stacks up—both as a fluffernutter sandwich-inspired candy bar and as a Butterfinger flavor.
Pros: They’ve done it! They have candy bar-ified the fluffernutter sandwich. While I fully expected the outside of the Marshmallow Butterfinger to be white chocolate and not marshmallow, it really tastes like marshmallow fluff. And it combines with the “peanut-buttery” flavor of the Butterfinger for a very solid, nostalgic fluffernutter sandwich experience.
Cons: This is an overall con for Butterfingers: They get stuck in my teeth. Maybe it’s good, though. It keeps me from eating these things by the dozen. Also, another con: These are limited time only!
Verdict: If you enjoy fluffernutter sandwiches you’ll want to add this unique spin on the Butterfinger bar to your hunting list now. Get it before it’s gone!
