Monster Energy is giving underrepresented fruits their time to shine. This time last year, I was reviewing an exclusively guava energy drink, Ultra Vice Guava. A few months ago, I got to review an only cherry energy drink from the brand. Today, I’ve got a can of my first-ever just passionfruit energy drink! (It’s just a matter of time before Monster debuts a kiwi energy drink, right?) Let’s find out whether Ultra Wild Passion Energy is worth giving a solo performance to.

New Monster Ultra Flavor!
- Monster Ultra Wild Passion Energy

Pros: As usual with the zero sugar Ultra line, it’s crazy how well this drink masks the flavor of the alternative sweetener. The authentic passionfruit flavor isn’t overwhelming; it’s just strong enough to convince you you’re drinking something fun rather than better-for-you. If they released this stealthily as the first zero sugar Monster Juice flavor, I’m not sure anyone would notice!
Cons: I’m not sure if this will be anyone’s favorite Monster Ultra flavor. I like it, but there’s multiple flavors I’d reach for before this, you know? There are too many spectacular flavors in the lineup; at this point, “it’s good!” is barely up to par.

What’s the next Monster Ultra flavor?
Real Sporkers will know that I’ve already revealed every new Monster Energy drink releasing between now and next May. I’ll still give you the cliffnotes on the zero sugar front—as a friend. While it isn’t explicitly in the “Ultra” line, we will see the existing Monster Zero Sugar formula get a kick of strawberry flavoring; Monster Strawberry Shot Zero Sugar will hit shelves in January. We’ll also see the currently regional Monster Lando Norris melon-yuzu energy drink hit shelves nationwide in February. In the Ultra line specifically, we’ll see two fantastic flavors join the lineup: Ultra Punk Punch in March and the rocket-pop-flavored Ultra Red, White, and Blue Razz in May.
