How many patties do you like on your burger? One? Two? Three? For most people, that’s about as high as they’ll go. Wendy’s, though? Well, it does things a little differently. If you’re so inclined, you can hack your Wendy’s order to make the T-Rex Burger, which has…wait for it…nine patties. Nine. Nine. In one burger. We know. It’s totally absurd. But this is the world we live in, people! Folks who like veggie burgers should look away now, as this one’s nothing but meat.

The T-Rex Burger First Appeared in a Fake Sports Illustrated Ad

This behemoth of a burger started life not as a real menu item, but as a canny piece of false advertising that served as a real attention-grabber for Wendy’s. Back in 2004, Sports Illustrated ran a tongue-in-cheek ad that depicted the T-Rex Burger in all its glory. Now, most people would likely have figured out that the burger wasn’t actually real, but soon enough, Wendy’s customers were requesting it at their local restaurants.

Clearly, Wendy’s knew that it might be onto something, and it took this strange bit of marketing and ran with it. The restaurant debuted the actual T-Rex Burger at a store in Brandon, Manitoba, where it became a local legend. When news of the T-Rex Burger reached the good old internet in 2013, though, the Brandon store decided to pull it, apparently due to the potential backlash it might receive. “For obvious reasons, Wendy’s of Brandon neither condones nor promotes the idea of anyone consuming a nine-patty hamburger in one sitting,” stated a Wendy’s representative

If You Want to Try a T-Rex Burger, You Just Need to Amp Up Your Dave’s Triple

To be honest, we don’t condone it either. The T-Rex Burger looks both utterly bizarre and incredibly difficult to eat, and after a few bites, you’ll be full. However, if you did want to order it in 2026 (and throw it on TikTok), then there’s a way to do so. All you have to do is order a Dave’s Triple and then ask for six additional patties. Needless to say, this isn’t a healthy fast food hack, guys; quite the opposite, in fact.

If you do this, you have to be ready to endure the sighs and eyerolls from the Wendy’s employees who have to then make the darn thing, and try and squeeze it into a box – so bear that one in mind before you opt for this burger. Alternatively, you could just put it together at home by buying Wendy’s burger patties at Kroger. Depends how much you like a challenge.
