Sonic is the latest fast-food chain to start 2026 with a new value item: a $6 All-American Smasher Meal. But what the heck is this new meal? What exactly is it smashing? We’ve got the details.
What is the All-American Smasher Meal?
This new Sonic meal includes the All-American Smasher, which is a double-patty smash cheeseburger with lettuce, tomatoes, diced onions, pickles, ketchup, and mayo; the option of medium tots or Groovy Fries (aka crinkle cut fries); and a choice between a medium soft drink or iced tea. All for just $6. But only for a limited time.
Sonic is also dropping a full menu of smash burgers
Along with the All-American Smasher, Sonic is also launching a trio of other smash burgers: the All-American Triple Smasher, All-American Bacon Smasher, and All-American Triple Bacon Smasher. These new Sonic burgers join the Original Sonic Smasher, which launched in the summer of 2024.
“The Sonic Smasher proves you don’t have to settle,” Ryan Dickerson, Sonic’s chief marketing officer, said in a statement. “It’s a premium, made-to-order, hand-smashed burger that’s simply better than you’ll find anywhere else in fast-food, or even fast-casual—it’s America’s favorite for a reason.”
Dickerson continued, “With the All-American Smasher lineup, we’re offering our best burger in a classic way people love, without cutting corners on quality. And at $6 for a full meal, we’re not just offering the best value; we’re raising the bar for what a fast-food burger relationship should be.”
Is this new Sonic value meal any good?
YouTube food critic Daym Drops tried the All-American Smasher Meal and gave it rave reviews. “I gotta say, Sonic, your $6 All-American gets a five all day from your boy,” he said. “You don’t miss here at all. It’s just very tasty through and through. Definitely worth all six of them dollars.”
He also gave props to Sonic for “increasing the quality” of its meals in recent years, but advised the beloved chain to keep a meal permanently on the menu, as it’s “what’s going to bring the people back.”
