Canned fish isn’t just for your grandma’s tuna noodle casserole anymore. Tinned fish has been sweeping the nation for long enough now that it’s transitioning from trend to way of life. Though historically not the sexiest pantry staple, tinned fish has exploded into a category that’s rich with a variety of seafoods in an array of flavors. And many cans are more expensive than your standard Bumble Bee Tuna—including the trendiest of the trend: Fishwife.

But we have good news for the tinned fish girlies out there looking to get their fix while saving some scratch: Fishwife is going national at Costco.

Who or what is Fishwife?

Tinned fish fans probably know the brand Fishwife, which has been described as “the cool girl canned seafood brand.” Okay, it was by us, but we stand by it. And we stand by Costco, so we’re thrilled to hear the news that they’re set to expand into Kirkland-lined havens nationwide! Some products are already available in Costcos in the Midwest, Northwest, Southeast, Bay Area, and Texas, but are expected in the Northeast by the end of March, with San Diego and L.A. stores looking at the end of February.

Why Fishwife?

Not sold on the concept of tinned fish? Wondering why it’s worth getting excited over palettes of canned seafood, when the lackluster tuna you’ve been settling for has been “fine, I guess” since you can remember? Aside from having some of the straight-up coolest-looking packaging, Fishwife is woman-founded and led, and aims to make ethically sourced seafood accessible and available for anyone looking for a flavorful, easy, healthy option. What’s not to like? No, seriously. Look us in the eye and tell us which part of “women-owned, ethical, and accessible” you have a problem with. See our quick wit and confidence? It’s all the omega 3s.

But we don’t even have to bully you into being a fan, because the products speak for themselves. (We should know, we tried most of them in one sitting.) They include more classic options like smoked salmon, but also get a little jiggy with the flavors, offering smoked rainbow trout with red chimichurri, mussels with basil pesto, sardines with preserved lemons, and even hip collabs like smoked salmon with Fly by Jing chili crisp

The company has been featured on platforms like Shark Tank, NY Times, Bon App Magazine, Vogue, LA Times, Forbes, *ahem* Sporked—all the heavy hitters of definitely equal regard. You could say they have trout and clout.

How much will Fishwife at Costco cost?

Soon, Costco members across the country will be able to buy a 3-pack of Fishwife Albacore in Spicy Olive Oil for about $15 or a 3-pack of Fishwife Smoked Rainbow Trout for about $20. On Fishwife’s website, those 3-packs go for over $30 each. So this Costco deal truly is a deal.
