If you thought the protein craze was dying out, think again. Did you know Quest Protein Chips have *checks notes* 12 different flavors now? And that Papa Johns is testing protein pizza crust? The manosphere will keep its clutches on this trend until every child has learned how to count macros (do you want to be a mogger or not?!), and brands will keep milking it as long as it’s making them money. Literally. Case in point:
Dunkin’ has launched something called “protein milk.” It’s a beverage add-on and default ingredient in their new line-up of protein-forward beverages.
Ariana, what is protein milk? (Please don’t say “milk with extra protein.”)
It’s milk! With extra protein! More specifically:
It’s Lactaid Protein 2% Reduced Fat Milk. For the most part. Different stores might use different products, but Dunkin’ workers have reported online that this is the product their stores have been using. Essentially, it’s a mix of reduced fat milk and ultra-filtered skim milk… but lactose-free. And 13g protein per serving. (If you were wondering, regular Lactaid 2% milk has 8g protein per serving.)
Look, I’m a Lactaid fan, so I’m not mad about this, even if my tone suggests otherwise. I would probably order this if I felt like grabbing a coffee post-workout. That’s not something I ever do, personally…but I see the appeal.
You mentioned something about a new line-up of Dunkin’ protein beverages that include the protein milk?
I did, didn’t I? Here they are, in all their swol glory:
- Megan’s Mango Protein Refresher. (This is a collab with Megan Thee Stallion, if that’s of any interest to you.)
- Strawberry Protein Refresher
- Caramel Chocolate Iced Protein Latte
- Almond Iced Protein Matcha Latte
- Iced Protein Latte with Sugar-Free Vanilla Syrup
Beyond the protein craze, Dunkin’ also introduced these new winter menu items, too:
- Caramel Chocolate Shakin’ Espresso
- Cocoa Cloud Latte (espresso paired with caramel-chocolate syrup and milk, topped with chocolate cold foam)
- Berry Moonlight Daydream Refresher (berry sangria flavor with oatmilk, topped with cold foam)
- Golden Chocolate Donut (a donut filled with “golden fudge” and topped with chocolate icing and crushed toffee pieces)
So yeah. Protein chips, protein pizza, protein milk…what’s next? Will y’all be opting for protein milk in your Dunkin’ coffees? Give me your thoughts in the comments, please, or else I’ll just keep talking into the void.
