The secret menu at Starbucks is anything but that. The coffee chain is so open about its quote-unquote “secret” items that it lists them all in its app for its Starbucks Rewards members, giving anyone who wants to tap through to it the chance to try out some of its more niche offerings. While we’re being facetious here, we’re really not complaining – when secret menus give you the ability to get a cake batter latte at Starbucks, life really ain’t so bad.

Now, Starbucks has rejigged its loyalty program, and with that has come the opportunity to try a few new secret drinks, which have been inspired by its new changes (and, we suspect, designed to alert people to them). Here’s what it’s brewing up, and how to get them.
For Starbucks, Loyalty Really Does Pay Off
Starbucks’ new limited-time drinks are designed to draw attention to its new tiered rewards system, which divides customers into being either Green, Gold, or Reserve members, based on how many stars they’ve earned with the chain. It all feels a little Capitol versus Districts in the Hunger Games, but apparently, regular customers have been craving greater recognition (and better rewards) for their continued loyalty, hence the new divisions. As you might expect, the higher the tier you’re in, the better your rewards are.
That said, you don’t actually have to be in those tiers to order the new secret drinks that have been inspired by them. First up is its new Iced Matcha Latte, inspired by its Green tier (which you can access by simply signing up), made with strawberry purée and banana cream cold foam. Prompted by its Gold tier (which can be achieved by earning 500 stars in a year) is its Iced Caramel Macchiato, a combo of toasted coconut cream cold foam, caramel crunch topping, and that all-important coffee. Finally, its Ube Shaken Espresso, constructed with ube powder, mocha drizzle, and chocolate cream cold foam, is inspired by the Reserve tier, which requires you to spend thousands of dollars in a year in Starbucks to reach 2,500 stars to achieve.

Starbucks’ new secret menu drinks won’t be around forever: In fact, they’re limited-time items, so don’t dawdle. There’s no indication yet of when they’ll be stolen from our grasp. As for how you order them, you can literally just tap on them in the app when putting in a digital order, and the barista will get started. Not that exclusive, but hey.
The news of Starbucks’ secret drinks comes hot on the heels of a few changes at the chain. It recently announced that it was changing its chai latte recipe (and to be honest, people haven’t loved the new flavor). It also just hit us with a new bunch of drinks for its February menu – and we can expect to see additional ones popping up throughout the year. This chain never rests. Hey, it is powered by coffee, after all.
