Boy I have got a scoop for you: Van Leeuwen Mango Sticky Rice Ice Cream, a flavor inspired by the classic Thai dessert of sweet mango, coconut, and sticky rice, has been spotted in the real world. By real world, I mean outside their ice cream parlors and in the freezer aisle of a major grocery chain. As someone who’s on record as saying Van Leeuwen is her favorite ice cream brand, this is kinda huge for me. Let’s dig in.

Hold up: Is this a new Van Leeuwen flavor?
Excellent question. Van Leeuwen serves this flavor at their ice cream parlors, but it’s really rare to see it in a grocery store. It’s elusive. Mysterious. Apparently, Kroger stores were selling it for a brief time last year, but it’s never had any official coverage. We at Sporked have certainly never seen it before in our shopping excursions.
I actually went to a Van Leeuwen parlor over the weekend, and I saw them advertising this flavor right outside the store. It seems like there’s definitely a push right now to put this pint on the map.
Where has it been spotted?
Thanks to alyssak66 on TikTok, we know you can find it at Whole Foods! And thanks to this reddit thread, I now know that Whole Foods sells their own version of Mango Sticky Rice Ice Cream, too, under the 365 brand. And the hot take is that it’s more authentic and better-tasting than Van Leeuwen’s. Yikes. Do I see a mango sticky rice ice cream mini-taste test in Sporked’s future? Maybe so…
How are the reviews?
People speak pretty favorably of this Van Leeuwen flavor, but they have notes. It’s pretty mango-forward, when it could use more of the sticky rice element. One commenter on the video suggests Van Leeuwen should make a mango sticky rice mochi flavor, and to them I say: Run for office. I will be your campaign manager. You are brilliant and clearly capable of complex problem solving.
Are you going to try and get your hands on this elusive Van Leeuwen flavor? Lemme know in the comments. (Please. I’m bored.)
