Aldi had quite the Mexican-food-saturated week last week. How does one follow that up? With a trip across the globe, apparently. We seem to have caught Aldi at a very German moment. Now, last week made sense. Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner. You can get some supplies at Aldi to prepare for the festivities. Where did this German-filled week of food come from? Well, maybe the German-born grocery store is just getting back to its roots! Oktoberfest is approximately five months away, but if you simply can’t wait, there’s a bunch of stuff at Aldi this week!

Deutsche Kuche Peanut Puffs (4/29; $2.49)

The Sporked team recently fell in love with Trader Joe’s hazelnut creme-filled bamba peanut snacks, and while these are lacking that sweet, creamy filling, these peanut buttery puffs still make a fun snack to eat on the fly.

Deutsche Kuche Bavarian Soft Pretzels (4/29; $4.29)

I’ve never met a soft pretzel I didn’t love. While frozen pretzels are hardly ever as good as an AMC Bavarian Legend in the comfort of a dim theatre, more at-home options are always welcome.

Deutsche Kuche Pork/Chicken Schnitzel (4/29; $9.99)

Making schnitzel from scratch is a whole thing. You can save yourself all the hassle of pounding, dredging, and breading cutlets with Aldi’s new frozen pork or chicken schnitzel cutlets. The might seem a little pricey by Aldi standards, but $9.99 is a small price to pay for your house to not smell like cooking oil for a full week.

Deutsche Kuche Spätzle (4/29; $4.99)

If you’ve never had spätzle, hey, now’s your chance. The little German egg noodles are filling and fun to eat, and you can get two flavors in the frozen aisle at Aldi: Garlic Sage and Cheese. Grab a bag of this, a box of frozen schnitzel, and a jar of Aldi’s red cabbage, and that’s dinner.

Deutsche Kuche Herring Fillets (4/29; $1.99)

In a world of luxury tinned fish brands, we thank Aldi for providing a cheap option. $1.99 for tinned fish is almost unheard of. This isn’t a missprint. These herring fillets really are this cheap! At this price, you might as well snack on these all day long to help meet your protein goals.

Deutsche Kuche Chocolate Flavored Wafers (4/29; $3.89)

Two chocolate-covered wafers are coming to Aldi this week. Available in dark and milk chocolate, both versions come with a hazelnut creme filling!

Other things to look out for this week…

Deutsche Kuche Spinach & Ricotta Strudel (4/29; $4.49)

This one would have been perfect to release for Easter but I’ll still take it. Any brunch would be elevated to a new level if there’s a spinach and ricotta strudel pulled out for the occasion.

Deutsche Kuche Cornichons (4/29; $2.69)

While these cornichons may be coming out during “German week” at Aldi, they’re just in time for any summer picnics that may be in your future.

Deutsche Kuche Red Cabbage with Apples (4/29; $2.69)

Keep this in the fridge when you just need to add a little oomph to anything you’re eating this week.

Deutsche Kuche Doppelino Sandwich Biscuits (4/29; $3.99)

Aldi’s releasing a full-fledged line of sandwich cookies this week. You’ll be able to find them in hazelnut, chocolate, or speculoos.

Deutsche Kuche Potato Sticks (4/29; $1.79)

Aldi’s keeping the discounts coming. $1.79 for a bag of potato sticks is a gift from the heavens in this economy. And you get two options to choose from: hash brown style and herbed.
