One of our favorite prebiotic sodas just transformed into an energy drink. “Wait, Ariana… does that mean you’re reviewing a prebiotic soda energy drink? Is that even a beverage that’s allowed to exist?” Yes, and apparently, yes.

Bloom Nutrition, best known for their line of “Bloom Pop” prebiotic sodas, just released Bloom Nutrition Sparkling Energy Shirley Temple. It’s an energy drink with zero sugar, taurine, vitamins, 180mg of caffeine, and also dietary fiber—which technically makes it a prebiotic soda, too. This is a true beverage chimera. And not, it’s not the first flavor in Bloom’s energy drink line, but it is the newest… and it’s the first time I’m really grasping the concept of this. So that’s fun.
I cracked open the pretty purple and red can to give it a taste. Here’s my honest review.

Pros: This is not as sweet or egregiously artificial as I thought it would be. Sorry to roast Olipop’s new Shirley Temple Prebiotic Soda, but compared to that, sipping this is a dream. It has a light hint of grenadine and a neat lemon-lime soda flavor throughout.
Cons: There are, predictably, a whole host of weird flavors in here that are simply meant to be ignored, not enjoyed. Again, we’re talking about a prebiotic energy drink soda, for god’s sake. Prebiotic soda can be a hard enough pill to swallow. Energy drinks taste like straight taurine. This is not a cohesive flavor experience, but it’s not disgusting, Also… why is it green? Who decided that a shirley temple-flavored beverage should be light neon green? Scary.
Verdict: The fact that this is even drinkable is a feat. But it’s no Bloom Pop Root Beer Float, I’ll say that much.
