Whether it’s in breakfast cereal or in cookies, we love it when apple pie flavors make their way into things that aren’t apple pies. We love a mash-up, a love a hybrid snack, and we love innovation. And we’re not shy about it! Thankfully, recently, we’ve seen a lot of the latter (apple pie-flavored cookies, that is). Last year, we tried Apple Pie a la Mode Oreos, which utterly blew us away, and we’ve also got an apple pie cookie dough on its way, courtesy of Pillsbury

In between those two, though, Pepperidge Farm decided to lay its claim on the “apple pie meets cookie” space. A subtle snack release that nonetheless makes headlines? We see you, Pepperidge Farm. We see what you’re doing. Let’s discuss its new Maggie’s Apple Pie Cookies.

Sweeter Than…You Guessed It…Apple Pie

Pepperidge Farm’s Maggie’s Apple Pie Cookies (which our old favorite @candyhunting was discussing yesterday) are a limited-edition product, and they look, frankly, quite charming. These sandwich cookies, which come in a 15-pack, are shaped like little apple pies, with a lattice top through which an apple pie-flavored filling pokes its head. The cookies are made of shortbread, so you also get that nice, crusty effect. In short (get it?), they’re super cute.

Pepperidge Farm Maggie’s Apple Pie Cookies have started appearing in Walmart and on Instacart, and we would imagine they’ll be available elsewhere, too. They cost roughly $4.50 per bag at Walmart, but this’ll likely be more if you’re buying them online, and prices can always vary from store to store. As they’re a limited-time vibe, though, we wouldn’t hang around for too long if you want to try them. And we personally think that you will want to try them.

Oh, Really? Why’s That?

Well, because some people have already got their hands on them, and apparently, they’re awesome. “I just got some in my Walmart. They’re FIREEEEE,” said a comment on @candyhunting’s post, one of many people who voiced their enthusiasm about these new cookies. Others have, quite rightly, pointed out that they feel a bit more appropriate for fall, but honestly, we’ll take apple pie any time of the year – and if Pepperidge Farm has decided that we’re getting them in spring and summer, we’ll be enjoying them in spring and summer, thank you very much.

We have to admit that we’re really loving the ambition of this brand at the moment, too. Last year’s holiday cookie batch from Pepperidge Farm was pleasingly out there, with amaretto nog hot cocoa and holiday nog flavors – and we’re sure this year’s will be as fun, too. It’s on a bit of a roll right now.
