Jimmy Dean Just Released Hot Bacon—But What Exactly Is Hot Bacon?

While Jimmy Dean is one of the biggest names in frozen sausages, they also make a host of other breakfast products, including breakfast bowls, breakfast burrito and premium bacon. And now, they’re putting out a spicy new breakfast meat to heat up your mornings: Hot Bacon.

What Exactly Is Hot Bacon? (And Why Do I Want It?)

Jimmy Dean’s new Hot Bacon is spiced bacon, using a similar spice mix as their popular hot premium pork sausage, which has a kick that we’re betting comes from plenty of cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes.

And while some spicy bacon would sound great with some scrambled eggs, I’m really looking forward to using it to add a bit of spice to other bacon dishes, like BLTs or crumbled over baked potatoes. I’m always looking for ways to add a bit more heat to my cooking—beyond simply pouring Cholula over everything—and this looks like a great way to add a bit of kick, mixed with the always welcome taste of bacon.

It’s already out in select retailers now, including Hy-Vee supermarkets. It’s sold in a 12oz package that’ll run you around $6.49.
