Got a Buc-ee’s near you? No? Well, that could be changing pretty soon. It’s fair to say that, in the last few years, this travel center chain’s reputation has somewhat outweighed its actual physical presence: We’ve been talking about Buc-ee’s here for a minute (and particularly its snacks), but the fact is that, up until now, it’s only operated in 12 states – and it has a fairly slim portfolio, with just 55 locations, mainly dotted across Texas.

Now, though, it looks like Buc-ee’s is ready to push out even further. The chain is currently mounting an expansion into six new states, and we’ve got the lowdown on where it’s going.
Hold Tight, Buc-ee’s Fans: It’s On Its Way To You
As People discusses, Buc-ee’s is in the midst of planning and opening new stores in six new states: Arizona, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Kansas, Louisiana, and North Carolina. It’ll be moving into these states fairly gently, and over the course of the next two years. Two new locations, in Goodyear, Arizona, and Benton, Arkansas, are due to open later this year (both stores are slated to open in the summer), while locations in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, Kansas City, Kansas, and Ruston, Louisiana are due to debut in 2027.
Folks in North Carolina, though, may have to wait until late 2027, or even early 2028, for a Buc-ee’s to land on their doorstep. When it does, though, it’ll be in Mebane. It looks as though Buc-ee’s operations will still be heavily concentrated in Texas, and this new push out to different states doesn’t represent a massive scale-up of its unit number – but it’s definitely feeling ambitious.
Now, If It Could Just Sort Out Its Complaints Process…
The news of Buc-ee’s new stores might come as music to some people’s ears, but to others, there’s something it needs to focus on a little more than building new locations. By “others,” we mean the Better Business Bureau, which recently gave Buc-ee’s an F rating for its failure to respond adequately to customer complaints. As we previously discussed, Buc-ee’s customers have been left in the lurch repeatedly when trying to log complaints to the company, some of which included being overcharged for goods or services, which led the Better Business Bureau to dub it as needing improvement. Importantly, the Better Business Bureau doesn’t have any power to force businesses to change – but it wasn’t a great look for the store.
Despite this, though, Buc-ee’s still has its fair share of fans, and elsewhere, it’s ranked highly on customer satisfaction indexes. Will you be satisfied when it comes to your state? We’ll just have to wait and see, huh?
