Look, we’re gonna hold our hands up and say it: We know that, in the food world, we talk a lot about unpopular decisions made by fast food chains. And we know that it can all feel a little negative sometimes. Whether we’re discussing accusations of fast food items getting smaller, how CEOs respond to said accusations, or just what people really don’t love about their chain of choice, it can get pretty downbeat.

So, you know what we absolutely love? When we get to talk about fast food chains that are doing it right. And apparently, at the moment, that’s Burger King. A recent Reddit thread asked whether BK has upped its game, and a lot of people feel that it has. Let’s talk about how it’s done so.

All Change Here!

According to Redditors, the changes that Burger King has been making throughout the year around its food and menu item quality has really started to show itself. People are especially impressed with its recent Whopper update. Back in February, we discussed the fact that BK was rejigging the burger bun and sauce for its most famous burger, and honestly, we were a bit worried that it’d ruin it – especially given that Wendy’s did the same thing with its Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and customers now feel that it’s ruined it.

Well, according to Reddit, that hasn’t happened. “The bun and toppings are vastly upgraded and amazing,” said one person of Burger King’s new Whopper move, with another saying that it’s “FANTASTIC.” Their capital letters, not ours! Crucially, the patty itself is the same, and so others haven’t been quite as enthusiastic – but it’s hard to deny that most people feel that Burger King has made the right move here.

Appearance Is Everything

The Whopper’s flavor isn’t the only thing that’s improved: Apparently, its look has improved, too. People on Reddit say that it’s now a rare example of a burger that actually looks like it’s marketing image. I mean, c’mon – how many fast food chains can say they do that?

Food assembly has also improved at the restaurant, according to customers. “I feel like some of the ones I’ve had recently were slightly more neatly assembled than I remember them being before,” said one Redditor, which speaks to an increased focus on quality and customer experience.

The Best Of The Pack

All of these little tweaks and moves have given Burger King the sense that it’s pulling away from the competition, and multiple people in the Reddit thread mentioned that it feels like it’s now a better option than the likes of McDonald’s and Wendy’s. This feeling goes to show that customers really do notice when a fast food chain is trying to improve things – and that they’re willing to give places like BK a second shot. “I used to hate Burger King with a passion. It was so nasty,” said one particularly vocal former critic of the restaurant on Reddit. “I tried them again recently at the behest of my SO and I was pleasantly surprised that I actually enjoy their food now.”

Now, we know that “actually enjoy” might sound like it’s damning with faint praise – but honestly? It seems as though Burger King might be on the up again. We see you, BK.
