This week brings light news on the recall front. Not an overall bad thing to hear, I suppose. Not that I want there to be many recalls going on in the food space; it just feels like we’re missing something. All that’s going on this week is a recall on soft ricotta cheese and a follow up from the moringa capsules we’ve covered the past two weeks. That means all’s quiet on the California Dairies’ milk powder, but we’ll see what the future brings. For now, here are the two recalls to know about this week.

Soft Ricotta/Requeson Cheese ― Listeria
Clover Hill Dairy is voluntarily recalling all Soft Ricotta/Requeson Cheese because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria. Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail, or elderly people. Healthy individuals may still be at risk of short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
Clover Hill Soft Ricotta/Requeson cheese was distributed from May 4th through May 30th of this year in the following states: North Carolina, New York, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey and Washington, DC through bulk distributors, retail stores and directly to consumers.
Clover Hill Soft Ricotta/Requeson cheese was sold in retail size packaging with the Clover Hill Dairy Cheese brand name and has plant number 24-128 on the product label. The recalled cheese was also sold in bulk to some customers that repackaged the cheese. The bulk cheese may be repackaged under individual bulk distributor brand names including but not limited to: Kesso, Quesos La Ricura, Izalco, De Mi Pueblo, and Rio Lindo. As always, be sure to ask the seller of any ricotta cheese you may have recently purchased if they use Clover Hill cheese or if you’re unsure of its source.
TNVitamins and Doctor’s Pride Moringa Capsules ― Salmonella
Total Nutrition is following the last two weeks and further expanding its recall of TNVitamins and Doctor’s Pride Ultra Potent Complete Green Superfood Moringa Capsules. This is still due to the potential to be contaminated with salmonella. Coverage for concern is targeted to both batches of 10,000mg (120 capsules) TNVitamins and Doctor’s Pride capsules but with more lot numbers added to the watch list.
There are two new lot numbers to look out for: Lot: 2725 with an expiration date of 04/2027 (across both TNVitamins and Doctor’s Pride capsules) and Lot 2503104 with an expiration date of 04/2027 only in the TNVitamins moringa capsules.
