A&W Has You Covered This National Root Beer Float Day

Root beer floats are such a good summer treat. What could be better than that sassafras-y drink with creamy vanilla ice cream? One brand is big in the root beer game and that’s A&W. And they’re not going to let you down when it comes to National Root Beer Float Day.

This Thursday, August 6th is National Root Beer Float Day and to celebrate, A&W is offering free small root beer floats from 2-8PM. There’s no purchase necessary. Any guest is free to stop in to their local A&W between the correct hours and get themselves a free little treat.

But, that’s not all that A&W is doing. This National Root Beer Float Day, A&W is also working with Disabled American Veterans, a nonprofit that assists more than 1 million veterans and their families each year through a range of no-cost services. While the treats will remain free, customers are welcomed to donate to DAV to thank those that served our country. They are also offering a commemorative limited-edition Collector’s Mug. One hundred percent of mug proceeds will benefit DAV. 

“National Root Beer Float Day is one of our favorite days of the year because it brings people together over a free treat while supporting those who have served our country,” said Betsy Schmandt, CEO and President of A&W Restaurants. “For more than a decade, our guests and franchise partners have helped A&W raise more than $1 million in support of American veterans and their families, and this year, we’re aiming to make an even greater impact.” 

And A Collector’s Mug

We think it’s pretty great that in addition to offering free treats to the public, they link the day to helping those that served to keep us all safe. Plus, we appreciate a good collector’s mug. This year’s mug is a throwback design that reminds us of the drive-in days. Parking your car at a speaker and a girl on skates bringing you the best root beer float of your life. A&W is doing good for the public and our vets and we think that’s pretty commendable for a brand. We certainly appreciate that they’ve taken the time to shine a light on an organization that’s here to do some good for those that get forgotten about. 

I’ll certainly be heading to the nearest A&W for a float.
