Starbucks just announced their fall menu that’s headed to stores on August 25th. Fans couldn’t help but notice that the beloved Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso and accompanying Apple Crisp Cold Foam and new Apple Crisp Protein Cold Foams were missing from the menu. Egregious in its own right, but they seem to have been replaced by banana bread inspired drinks.

Some Strange Menu Choices This Year
According to Starbucks, the reason banana bread made it onto the menu is because it’s having a moment. That’s certainly news to me. Look, no offense to banana bread but I’m only aware of it as the dessert you throw together with your near-moldy bananas to make yourself feel better for not eating them right away. I certainly wouldn’t call them a fall-specific thing.
In another true twist of events, Starbucks has also added an Iced Pumpkin Cream Matcha to their fall menu. Now they’re just making stuff up. Do we really think pumpkin cream and matcha are going to work well together? I guess we’ll literally be the judge on that one when we get to it.
Fans Are Getting Heated
Reddit is taking the news of no apple crisp drinks this year quite personally. Do me a favor and go to this post and search for how many times “apple” was used on one thread. The people are ready for an uprising! I have to agree. We need to get back to reality here, people. Apple crisp is a fall flavor and leaving it out off the menu is bonkers! You think I’m going to get fall vibes with a banana flavored coffee? Get real!
There’s A Tiny Sliver of Hope
One commenter on Reddit reminded others that Starbucks actually had two fall menu releases last year. That seems to track with this press release I found on Starbucks’ site. While it is unhelpfully not dated, it seems to be from last year. The Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso and cold foams were released on this mysterious second fall menu as they were making their way back into stores on October 9th. I can only hope that’s in store for us yet this year.
The press release also called apple crisp a “fan-favorite.” If that’s the case, Starbucks, then why aren’t we getting it sooner?! I’d much rather get an apple crisp drink all fall long than the Frankensteined drink that is an “Iced Pumpkin Cream Matcha.”
