Pringles Just Released A Brand New Kind Of Chip

Pringles has spent decades perfecting the art of making a chip that fits neatly into a can, stacks beautifully, and leaves you with no less than 47 crumbs in your lap. But there’s one area where the iconic chip has never exactly excelled: dipping.

Try to scoop up anything thicker than salsa with a regular Pringle and there’s a decent chance you’ll end up with a broken chip floundering hopelessly in your dip. Not ideal when you’ve committed to a serious scoop.

And it seems like Pringles has finally noticed. This September, the brand is introducing a brand-new kind of crisp that’s thicker, sturdier, and wavier than the original, all in the name of keeping your dip on the chip instead of at the bottom of the bowl.

Literally Built For Dipping

The new crisps, called Pringles Dippers, are the first-ever Pringles to get the thicker-and-sturdier treatment. They have a more pronounced, scoop-like shape designed to carry more dip from the bowl to your mouth in one piece.

Which means you can stop holding your breath every time you dare to dip your Pringle in some guac.

Pringles says the new shape is designed for everyone from “light-dip” people to “heavy scoop” people. I appreciate that the brand has recognized there are two types of people at a party: those who politely tap their chip into the dip and those who arrive ready to excavate the bowl. Being firmly in the second camp, I’m definitely excited.

So, What Flavors Are We Getting?

The new Pringles Dippers will come in three flavors: Original, French Onion, and Bacon Cheddar.

Original keeps the classic salty, savory Pringles flavor, just in the new sturdier shape.

French Onion combines savory onion flavor with sweet caramelized onion notes and a creamy, tangy finish. If you’re designing a chip specifically for dipping, French Onion feels like a sensible place to start.

Then there’s Bacon Cheddar, which combines bold cheddar with smoky bacon flavor. It’s also sturdy enough to load up with your favorite dip, although at some point we’re going to have to ask whether the dip is still a topping or whether we’ve accidentally made dinner.

But for once, Pringles isn’t just putting a new flavor in the can. It’s rethinking the structural stability of the chip itself.

There’s A New Pringles Snack, Too

Pringles is also adding a new flavor to its Mingles lineup, so there’s another snack to look out for this fall.

Pringles Mingles Sweet & Salty joins the brand’s bowtie-shaped puffed snacks with a combination of rich brown-buttery sweetness and a salty finish.

They’re light, airy, and crispy, making them pretty much the opposite of the new dipping crisps.

One Pringle is preparing for a battle with your spinach-artichoke dip. The other is here to disappear by the handful.

When Can You Get The New Pringles?

Both new products start hitting retailers nationwide in September.

The new crisps will be available in Original, French Onion, and Bacon Cheddar, while Sweet & Salty joins the existing Mingles lineup.
