This Giant Costco Pie Is Here Just In Time For Fall

This year, whether we like it or not, pumpkin spice is here. At this point, it’s not just one or two locations that have taken an early lead, but pretty much everyone who sells food has already released something pumpkin spice. As soon as back to school is over, businesses were in the clear to go all out — and they have. Where Chobani took the early lead releasing their pumpkin spice coffee creamers in late July, some bigger brands like Costco, Starbucks, and Dunkin’ are just getting started this week.

And while usually we get everything pumpkin spice flavored long before it’s source of inspiration, Costco has turned to the classics to releasing its fall flavors into stores. That’s right folks, the long anticipated Costco pumpkin pie is officially stocked in its bakeries nationwide. Here’s the rundown.

An Early Surprise

Listen folks, we could sit here in argue all day about whether or not it’s too soon for pumpkin spice to be out and in stores yet. Sure, summer doesn’t officially end until September 22. But, at this point, we should all know that our seasonal eating patterns are driven by consumer demand. And consumers love pumpkin spice. It’s been nice this year seeing more of a variety from different companies like McDonald’s and Krispy Kreme, leaning more heavily into the apple flavor, as well as Dutch Bros for leaning into the fall berry flavors. But at the end of the day, pumpkin spice is a flavor that is here to stay. 

This year, though, this pie is coming into Costco bakeries roughly a week earlier than it did last year. So, if pumpkin spice is your thing and you’re ready to celebrate, then this is the perfect time for you. The pie itself comes in at 58 ounces. And, perhaps the best part of it all is that it is only $5.99. There’s no arguing about how great of a steal this is, especially as we approach all of the expensive holiday hosting to come.

A Fan Favorite

The pie itself is made with the same high-quality finish that you get from pretty much all of the bakery items at Costco. It’s freshly made in store with a signature recipe that defines the flavor of the pumpkin filling (although we have to say it’s still pretty classic). And, it’s flaky, buttery crust makes this an irresistible purchase. 

Some commenters still are going to argue for this being too early of a release, but juxtaposing those notions are Instagram commenters saying “Can’t beat that price,” and “That will be the cheat on my diet.” There’s no doubt about it, this is one of the most classic and best items off of the pumpkin spice train that’s gonna come through town cause it’s just making good on the core of why we all fell in love with pumpkin spice to begin with: the pie.
