Aside from our weekly series here at Sporked where we break down what we’re most looking forward to shopping at Publix from their extensive BOGO sales each week, each month we make an additional effort to see what is simply looking good in the weeks ahead. Because, let’s be honest, sometimes our favorite products or the things we’re most looking forward to getting our hands on just aren’t gonna be on sale.

Regardless, there are certain items that we eagerly anticipate shopping each month and September is no different. September sees one of the most abundant and delicious seasons for succulent produce, as well as fully tapping into the upcoming fall festive season. These are the things we spotted at Publix that we’re most excited for this month.

Nutella Peanut Spread With Cocoa

What Nutella has done for the chocolate and hazelnut combination is something that should truly be studied. They have turned something that was already a regional favorite into a combination that will forever go down in concert with the brand’s name. But, what about the other nuts? Can Nutella do something just as impressive and delicious with other nuts as they did with with hazelnuts? We’re dying to find out. So, we’re gonna have to pick up some of the new Nutella Peanut Spread in order to find out. We’re especially excited for this one in the lead up to October since it mirrors the iconic Reese’s flavors.

Limited Edition Glazed Pumpkin Fritters

Apple fritters in fall aren’t really anything revolutionary. But it’s not often that we get to see a pumpkin fritter. Granted, everything in the world seems seasoned with a hearty dash of pumpkin spice right now, but this is something that actually makes sense to be using this flavor. Almost every Publix bakery item is an automatic slam dunk, but there’s something that makes us particularly excited for these. And with the official start of fall coming in at the end of the month, there’s no reason to not start being a little bit festive and indulging in these fritters.

Honestly, we need to figure out if this is the kind of fritter we’ve been missing this whole time, or if we’re gonna be sticking with apple for the rest of the season. If that’s the case, then we’ll still have the Glazed Apple Sour Cream Cake Donuts from the Publix bakery to fall back on.

Annas Original Ginger Thins

Annas Ginger Thins are not so much a seasonal item as they are on shelves year-round, but since it’s the beginning of fall and teasing the season ahead, we’ve come to embrace their delicate ginger flavor a bit more. Plus, what’s so great about these is that they are not only an absolutely fabulous snack with their tender, super thin bite, but they also make the perfect crust. Crushed up with a little bit of butter, a touch of salt and sugar and molded into a pie plate, these make one of the easiest (and guaranteed delicious) pie crust. You could make it for practically anything in the upcoming season, but I have a particularly strong fondness toward the idea of making a creamy, custardy pumpkin pie filling in a crust made of these cookies.

Seasonal Pepperidge Farms Cookies

Ever since Pepperidge Farms released the lineup of their fall flavors coming to their cookies, we have been eagerly awaiting their arrival on shelves. And starting this month, will actually be able to shop the flavors we’ve been anticipating. Not only are we always big fans of the seasonal Milano cookies, but this year’s launch of a festive fall flavor of the Chessmen shortbread cookies has made us extra intrigued. The Spiced Orange Cranberry Chessmen feel like everything we could want from a non-pumpkin-spiced festive sweet treat, and we’re ready to clear the shelves once they’ve hit stores this month.

Figs

We wait all year for the return of figs to our grocery store’s shelves and while they’re in season, we don’t anticipate taking it for granted. Figs are not only often on sale right now, but they are succulent and jammy all on their own. Figs also inherently are perfect fruit in regards to versatility. Not only are they exceptional in a sweet setting with honey and warm spices, but they are perfect in a savory capacity with salt, herbs, and vinegar. There’s no produce more seasonally appropriate to celebrate this month than figs, and they are the perfect fruit to lead us into fall since their depth of flavor isn’t bright and summery.
