We Tried The Compartés x Little Debbie Chocolate Bars (And We’re Impressed)

We are living in the Little Debbie renaissance. Or maybe it’s just that I, someone who was raised by Little Debbies, take note of the things that they have going on with a closer eye. There’s nothing Little Debbie won’t do these days. New flavors, a whole set of merch, and now a lineup of fancy chocolate that needs to be explored! Luckily, Sporked found the number one Little Debbie fan out there to try out the new Compartés Little Debbie Chocolate Bars.

Little Debbie Cosmic Brownies Chocolate Bar

Pros: Little Debbie lent their iconic rainbow-colored, candy-coated chocolate chips to the Compartés team. The chocolate bar is topped with the chips so you can see them pop when you pull it out of the package. The dark chocolate lends a deep richness that helps try to recreate the flavor of the Cosmic Brownie.

Cons: You’ll never believe this, but the chocolate-focused treat turned chocolate bar mostly just tastes like, you guessed it, chocolate. Which ultimately is on me for expecting too much from the food scientists. I apologize for that. The end result is ultimately a pleasurable experience but beyond the rainbow chocolate chips, I wouldn’t know this was a Cosmic Brownie inspired dessert.

Little Debbie Honey Buns Chocolate Bar

Pros: Honey Buns happen to be one of my favorite Little Debbie snacks. I am also one of white chocolate’s only defenders and I am logging on for this one. Opening the wrapper on the Honey Buns chocolate bar and seeing white chocolate on the other side was a delight. The flavor holds up to the expectation as well. You can actually taste the honey glaze in the chocolate bar.

Cons: This one comes with the caveat that yes, it is white chocolate. If you’re not a fan, you want to steer clear from this one. If you love fun, you’re in for a real treat.

Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies Chocolate Bar

Pros: To finish the trio of chocolates, we have a bar of milk chocolate that’s made with a bit of Oatmeal Cream Pie flare. This bar gets a bit of sweet cream filling added to the top of it so, once again like the Cosmic Brownie bar, you can see those when you examine the bar. While they add a bit of softness to the bite, they do kind of get lost in the mix of things.

Cons: Compartés promises a “gentle oat spice” but it gets lost in the milk chocolate. This is why I’m not fully on board with more delicate flavors being paired with chocolate. They usually get overshadowed pretty easily.
