Yes, you read that correctly. We tried the whole entire Culver’s menu. And ranked it. There were surprises and things I would never want to eat again. It was an experience. And Culver’s has a big menu, so without further ado, let’s get into it.

- Cheese Curds
-
Yeah, that’s right. Not even their signature burger is getting number one. The cheese curds are the real pull for Culver’s. Have you had them? They’re squeaky little deep fried beauties. The butter burgers are good. But Wisconsin isn’t known for beef. They’re known for cheese. So, of course, the cheese curds should be the absolute star. They’re the perfect little snack or you can get them as a side instead of fries. I love stopping and getting a shake and some curds when I need just a little pick-me-up. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad cheese curd from them and that’s including eating them cold. They’re just good.
- Frozen Custard
-
Now, I have tried many of their different frozen custard offerings. And honestly, there’s no picking a best. So I’m going to lump all the custard together because it all uses the same two bases of either vanilla frozen custard or chocolate frozen custard. These are so customizable. If I tried to go for every combination possible, I think I would die of old age before ever reaching the end. Or I’d end up with some serious medical issues and probably very high blood sugar.
But aside from the cheese and burgers, frozen custard is Culver’s biggest selling point. And for good reason. Because this is custard and not ice cream, it’s a richer more complex base. And they offer it in so many ways that everyone can find something they’re happy with. Who doesn’t love a sweet treat after dinner? Or with if you go for a shake or malt? Plus, Culver’s also has rotating daily flavors that will keep you on your toes of new and exciting combos to try. One of my faves for the daily? Chocolate covered strawberry. Try it ASAP and thank me later.
- Butter Burgers
-
Okay, well the burgers were going to be close to the top, of course. It’s their main seller (aside from frozen custard and the cheese curds). Now I didn’t try all the variations, this is just blanket for all the standard butter burgers. I’ve had them lots of ways, including some of their special limited offerings, and they’re always good. And the great thing about their burgers? You can get them exactly how you want. No getting toppings you have to pick off because you don’t like it. Just meat and whatever else you like on your burger. Now, I will say, as much as I do love their burgers, they can get a little greasy because of the butter. But if I’m eating fast food, it’s not like I’m expecting something healthy. But it can get messy even just a meat and cheese burger thanks to the grease.
- Crinkle Cut Fries
-
Now this has a little asterisk. Because if the fries are done well? They’re so good and amazing. But they also do have the tendency to get a little soggy and clump together. No one wants a sad, soggy mass of a somewhat fried potato. But oh man, when these guys are crisp and fresh? Divine. And, if you want them a little more indulgent, I highly recommend getting a cup of their Wisconsin cheddar sauce for dipping. It makes for a cheesy potatoey delight. I don’t know what they do differently to their fries, but when they’re done well, they are among my absolute favorite fast food fries. I’m sure my love of their cheese helps. But the fries stand up well on their own.
- Pretzel Bites
-
Now, I would like a little more salt or at least for the salt to be more consistent. Sometimes they’re salted well. Sometimes it just falls right off. But the pretzel dough is good and these make for a yummy grab and go snack when you’re on the road or just need something light.
The Worst Menu Item
The worst item on Culver’s menu? Easy: soup.
Now their soup rotates like their flavor of the day. So it’s hard to say quantify all their soups individually. However, I tried several of them and they were… rather underwhelming. They were all a little watery, even the thicker soups like the potato. I was not a fan. I’d rather eat a canned soup than these. So eat with caution if you’re going to venture this direction.
