Imagine ordering dinner and a fire engine pulls up. Before you panic, check whether you remembered ordering pizza.

Domino’s is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association for Fire Prevention Week from October 4th through 10th, and some customers could have their pizza delivered with a local fire department in tow.
Then the firefighters are going to check your smoke alarms.
If they’re working, congratulations. Your pizza is free.
If they’re not, you still get the pizza. You just have to pay for it while firefighters fix your smoke alarms.
How Do You Get Free Domino’s Pizza?
The promotion is happening at participating Domino’s locations across the U.S. during Fire Prevention Week, but there’s an important catch: You can’t request the fire engine delivery. Some orders will arrive with firefighters, who will check the smoke alarms in the customer’s home.
If all the alarms are working, Domino’s will cover the pizza. Which may be the first time maintaining your smoke alarms has come with pepperoni as a direct financial incentive.
If the alarms aren’t working, the firefighters will replace the batteries or install functioning smoke alarms instead.
Best case, your smoke alarms work and somebody hands you free pizza. In the other case, you discover the thing designed to warn you that your house is on fire wasn’t doing its job and firefighters fix it for you. You do have to pay for the pizza in that scenario, but I think we can still call it a productive evening.
Your Pizza Might Arrive With A Fire Engine
This is the 19th year Domino’s and the National Fire Protection Association have teamed up for Fire Prevention Week, so this has presumably happened to quite a few confused pizza customers by now.
I would immediately assume something had gone terribly wrong with my pizza.
This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower,” with a focus on lithium-ion battery safety. The NFPA is using the week to remind people about safely buying, charging, and disposing of devices powered by lithium-ion batteries.
And while I am generally in favor of fire safety without needing to be bribed with dinner, there is something particularly motivating about knowing a functioning smoke alarm could suddenly save you the cost of your order.
I’d be testing every alarm in the house before the pizza arrived.
When Is Domino’s Giving Away Free Pizza?
Domino’s Fire Prevention Week promotion runs October 4th through 10th at participating franchise-owned and corporate stores around the country.
Again, having working smoke alarms doesn’t automatically get you free Domino’s. Your delivery has to be one of the ones selected for the fire department visit.
So don’t order a large pepperoni and stand at the window waiting for a fire engine.
But maybe test your smoke alarms before October 4th.
Just in case.
