Sometimes, the allure of instant mashed potatoes is just too great. Yes, they may not quite compare to the freshly made version in terms of flavor – but think about all of the arm strength you’ll save! Think of how your fingers will thank you when you’re not trying to place your potatoes, still piping-hot, into the ricer! Think about not having to try and cram all of your potatoes into one pot and watching them constantly to prevent the water from bubbling over! And think about the time you’ll save. All that glorious time.

So, there are positives to the instant version – especially when a brand like Idahoan is behind the wheel, and when it’s offering a new flavor that sounds positively delightful. And that’s the situation we find ourselves in today.
Idahoan Cheddar Broccoli Mashed Potatoes
Idahoan has just announced its new Cheddar Broccoli Mashed Potatoes, which it dubs in its press release “the comfort food mash-up America has been waiting for.” And a comforting mash-up it certainly is. This new instant mashed potato product is made with 100% real Idaho potatoes, real cheddar cheese, and real broccoli, with no artificial flavors or dyes. Naturally, it’s probably not going to be a like-for-like nutritional substitute for using real broccoli in your cheddar mash, but if speed is what you’re after, these potatoes will come together in a few minutes. You can always add some of your own broccoli if you want, too – but I appreciate that takes the convenience of it all out of the equation.
If previous Idahoan products are anything to go by, these new Cheddar Broccoli Mashed Potatoes could be a winner. In our taste-test of the best instant mashed potatoes last year, we ranked five Idahoan mashed potatoes in our top nine, with its Monterey Pepper Jack coming second only to Betty Crocker’s Creamy Butter potatoes. When Idahoan is working with cheesy flavors, it tends to do well, and so we’ve got high hopes for this one.
Available Now!
Idahoan Cheddar Broccoli Mashed Potatoes have already hit stores, and they’re available pretty widely, in stock at locations like Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Wegmans, Ralph’s, Stop & Shop, and ShopRite, as well as in twelve-packs from Walmart.
