It’s time to talk turkey. This year’s Thanksgiving releases and announcements are in full swing, and as expected, the bird features heavily in most of them, whether you’re buying a full Thanksgiving meal from Aldi, trying to nab a free turkey from BJ’s Wholesale, or (gulp) making a dill pickle turkey. But all of these options feature big turkeys. Full-size turkeys. Turkeys that might suit a large extended family, but may not be ideal for solo or duo diners.

Well, I’m of the firm belief that people having smaller celebrations shouldn’t have to compromise. I’ve already brought what I think is a dynamite Thanksgiving turkey stuffing hack to the table, and now I bring news of a Trader Joe’s re-release, which has a price that feels like it defies logic. Let’s discuss.
Trader Joe’s Turkey & Stuffing En Croute
This year, Trader Joe’s has brought back its limited-time Turkey & Stuffing En Croute. This two-and-a-half-pound entrée was last seen a couple of years ago, and it’s a combination of seasoned turkey and cornbread stuffing, all wrapped up in a sliceable puff pastry. Not only is it easy to prepare – you just put it in the oven for an hour after thawing it overnight, no brining or basting required – but it’s also easy to share. It’s designed to serve six to eight people, depending on your hunger levels.
But here’s the kicker: On one of the occasions Trader Joe’s Turkey & Stuffing En Croute was last seen, back in November 2021, it was priced at $15.99. Now, it’s $16.99. A single-dollar increase, or 6.25%, over half a decade. When you consider that inflation was around 6.45% for 2022 alone, and has hovered anywhere between 2.68% and 3.98% in the years since, this thing is beating the standard logic of economics. We approve.
And So Do Customers…
Following the news of TJ’s Turkey & Stuffing En Croute coming back, shoppers were not only celebrating its return, but its value. “A price jump of only $1 is pretty incredible for something in this price range,” said a happy customer on Reddit. They also, like me, saw the value of it as an entrée ideal for just a couple of people – and one that you can grab now and freeze until the big day itself.
And if you’re not convinced…I present the image of a slab of turkey, stuffing, and pastry, doused in gravy, and tucked into a sandwich the day after Thanksgiving. Are you hungry yet? Because I’m hungry.
