Bacon makes everything better – but only if it’s actually good. All too often, this meat can fall at the first hurdle; while there’s plenty of great bacon out there, there’s also a lot of questionable stuff, with retailers and manufacturers selling thin, stringy slices that taste of little more than salt and regret. If they’re not doing that, they’re flavoring their bacon in some eyebrow-raising ways. I only have to point to the existence of Walmart’s latest trendy bacon to illustrate this point.

So it’s a pleasure when a new bacon comes along that actually sticks the landing. Today, that bacon comes courtesy of Sam’s Club.

Sam’s Club Member’s Mark Double Smoked Thick Cut Brown Sugar Glazed Bacon

Sam’s Club has just dropped its new Member’s Mark Double Smoked Thick Cut Brown Sugar Glazed Bacon, and boy, am I salivating right now. This new bacon comes packaged with two sachets of brown sugar glaze, which you add before cooking it in the oven. Not only does this keep the bacon moist when you cook it, but it also sidesteps that pesky issue of pre-added glazes and flavors, which can either mingle with the meat in the packaging and end up creating a slightly strange flavor, or deliver something fairly underpowered.

There’s enough to go around, too. Each package contains two pounds of bacon, and it’ll set you back just under $13. It feels like it has the potential to become a holiday breakfast favorite in the coming weeks and months, and customers are already singing its praises.

Are They? Are They Really?

They are. They really are. Over on the Sam’s Club website, the bacon currently boasts a five-star rating – and while there may not be too many reviews just yet, the ones that have come in so far are universally positive. “Delicious,” said one person, while another stated, “This is the perfect sweet and savory snack! Tastes high quality and the value is amazing for the price.” The latter review went on to say how balanced its flavor was, and how the glaze being kept separate also stops things from getting sticky and messy. These reviews have thus far been collected as part of a promotion, but as this is a new product, that’s not unusual — nor does it mean they have to be positive.

And as for how you can use it – well, serving it alongside some eggs or criss-crossed on top of a stack of pancakes is the obvious move. However, there’s adventure to be had here, people! One customer on the Sam’s Club website said how good it was in fried rice, and you could also chop it up and throw it into a potato salad, pop it into a sandwich, or stir it into some pasta. Or you could add it to some holiday-themed burgers. Or…do whatever you want with it. Just like I said: Bacon makes everything better.
