Well, 2026 has certainly gotten off to an alarming start. If being an eat-your-anxieties kind of guy or gal has you putting off your new year’s fitness goals just a leeetle bit longer, the good news is that everyone’s favorite budget grocery store has a bunch of new products rolling out this month. We’ll cover all the fun Valentine’s Day stuff next month, but in the meantime, here are six Aldi finds we can’t wait to try in January.

Park Street Deli Asian Meal Kits ($7.99)

Now that regular life has resumed, you’re probably feeling very overwhelmed. Okay. I am feeling very overwhelmed, which is why these meal kits caught my eye when I was perusing new Aldi finds. They come refrigerated rather than frozen (so they cook faster) and there are two styles to choose from: Stir Fry Noodles with Mongolian-Style Beef and Teriyaki Udon with Chicken. The prospect of making a fast dinner for only eight bucks already makes me feel less overwhelmed.

Fusia Mini Wontons (Available Jan. 7; $6.49)

If these itty-bitty chicken and vegetable dumplings are anywhere near as good as Bibigo’s mini dumplings, you better believe we’ll be stocking up on these suckers. Looks like they’re microwavable, too, which we love.

L’oven Fresh Overnight Oats Bread (Available Jan. 14; $3.99)

I’m obviously familiar with the concept of overnight oats, but “overnight oats bread” is a new one. Is it mushy like gruel? Does it slide down your gullet like porridge? My guess is no. This looks like regular bread infused with flavors that are popular in the overnight oats realm (namely, brown sugar and blueberry). Brown sugar toast with some salted butter sounds good to me—better than overnight oats, that’s for sure.

Mama Cozzi’s Thin Crust Pit Smoked Beef Brisket Pizza and Chicken Jalapeno Pizza (Available Jan. 14; $5.99)

We’re pretty big fans of Mama Cozzi’s pizza (which we learned during our full Aldi frozen pizza taste test), and while the classics tend to be our faves, we can’t resist experimental topping situations. A smoked brisket pizza is either going to be awesome or mediocre, but it’s nice that it only costs $5.99 to find out, rather than $20 at the pretentious local brew pub.

Clancy’s Buffalo Wing and Parmesan Garlic Flavored Kettle Chips (Available Jan. 21; $1.99)

The “Big Game” is approaching, and Buffalo wing potato chips sound perf for the occasion, especially if you don’t want party guests eating saucy chicken off the bone on your sofa. A thought: Call the other ones “Garlic Knot” flavored. Then we’d really be in business.

Fremont Fish Market Bavarian Pretzel Breaded Shrimp (Available Jan. 28; $5.99)

Okay, I will be the first to admit that the pretzels pictured on this bag of frozen shrimp look more like Rold Gold pretzels than “Bavarian” pretzels, but still, pretzel crusted fried shrimp sound great, even if their German roots are questionable. Aldi’s selection of frozen apps is notoriously crummy, so we’d be thrilled if they nailed this one.

Gwynedd Stuart

Howdy! I’m Gwynedd, Sporked’s managing editor. I live in Los Angeles and have access to the best tacos the U.S. has to offer—but I’m a sucker for a crunchy Old El Paso taco night every now and then. I’ve been at Sporked since 2022 and I’m still searching frozen mozzarella sticks that can hold a candle to restaurant sticks. Why you should trust me: I’ve been a journalist for 20 years (yikes), a consumer of food for 40-plus years, and I’m truly hard pressed to think of foods I don’t like (or that I can’t tolerate at the very least). Oh and one time I cooked my way through Guy Fieri’s cookbook and wrote about the journey through Flavortown. What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s Original Savory Thins. Fat free plain yogurt (usually Fage or Nancy’s). Honeycrisp apples. Sweet cream coffee creamer for my at-home Americanos. A frozen cauliflower crust pizza and some jarred mushrooms to top it with. Old El Paso Stand ‘N Stuff taco shells and Gardein Ground Be’f, even though I think “be’f” is a nightmarish contraction. Favorite ranking: Stouffer’s frozen dinners. I don’t own a microwave (I get my cancers the old fashioned way!), so I love taste testing things that I don’t really buy to eat at home. Least favorite ranking: Soy sauce. Don’t get me wrong, I love soy sauce—but consuming that much sodium in one sitting is probably illegal in some countries. Our frozen enchilada taste test was a close second; the smell of microwaved corn tortillas still haunts me.
