Arby’s may not be as, shall we say, flashy as some of the other fast food chains out there, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t like to push the envelope here and there. Sure, its image centers around its slightly retro roast beef sandwiches (Alton Brown’s favorite fast food order), but it finds a lot of ways to make said sandwich a bit more interesting. At the start of the year, it dropped a limited-time run of an Italian beef dip sandwich that had all of us feeling like Carmy and the gang at The Bear, and now it’s amping things up for its standard French dip, too. The French Dip Royale is here. And we’re gonna talk about it.

Arby’s New French Dip Royale

Arby’s new sandwich is a step-up from its Classic French Dip & Swiss, which a lot of customers say is the best on the menu. The French Dip Royale has a few differences, though, that help it stand out. Instead of being made with Swiss cheese, it’s topped with provolone and is adorned with caramelized onions, garlic aioli, and steak seasoning that will give it a bit of extra flavor. Sounds pretty decent, we’re not gonna lie.

The French Dip Royale is also bigger and comes with the same cup of au jus that the Classic French Dip & Swiss does. It must be said that it’s not gonna be the cheapest sandwich out there – the French Dip Royale has a guide price of $7.89, or you can grab it as a meal for around $12.49 – so it’s worth keeping that in mind if your mouth is already watering. We love a French dip as much as the next person, but things are pricey these days.

This new sandwich is, like its Italian beef dip, a limited-time run – and so you’re gonna want to move quickly to get it if you’re keen, as it’ll only be around for a short time. Find it at participating locations now.

Fans Are…Excited?

When news of Arby’s new French Dip Royale burst onto the internet, people were intrigued – but they didn’t necessarily feel like they were getting something, shall we say, innovative. “So it’s almost identical to their already existing French dip,” said one person on Reddit, who kinda hit the nail on the head. Another person questioned whether the image of the French Dip Royale, in all its big ol’ glory, was actually going to be true to real life. “Ain’t no way that roast beef is piled that high, I’ve had some of Arby’s “crafted” roast beef sandwiches in the past 2 years, and they’re all flatter than a pancake,” they stated.

Well…that’s sorta the case with any fast food sandwich, really; they’re never quite what they look like. Regardless, we’re tentatively excited about this one, if only because we think that roast beef and caramelized onions are usually a smash. Are you? Let us know, people!
