Now that Valentine’s Day has been and gone, everyone can start getting a lil’ bit more weird again. We don’t have to put up with all that lovey-dovey stuff anymore; we can embrace our true, bizarre, nasty selves. It looks like e.l.f. is doing that, at least. The beauty company has apparently made the decision that in a post-Valentine’s world, the best way to get that special someone to kiss you is by smearing your lips with dill pickle lip balm.

Wait, what? Yep. Dill. Pickle. Lip balm. Instagram account @trendmood1 has just announced that e.l.f. is dropping a dill pickle version of its Glow Reviver Melting Lip Balm, and we’re ever so slightly in two minds about whether we wanna try it or not.
Dill Pickles: The Latest Beauty Trend (Apparently)
The cosmetics giant is marketing its dill pickle lip balm by calling it “a dill-iciously rich, buttery balm that delivers high-gloss shine and a boost of hydration for soft, nourished lips.” It also alluded to the fact that people have been asking for this flavor for a while (really?). It even has the color of a dill pickle, with a bright green tone.
The immediate reaction to this drop was, as you might expect, pretty divided. Some people pitched up in @trendmood1’s comment section, saying that they were excited about it; Trixie Mattel herself dropped a gasping emoji. Another commenter summed up what most of us were thinking when they said, “I love pickles but def don’t want my lips to smell like one lol.” We…sort of agree.
When Can I Get My Hands on This Lip Balm?
In theory, right now – but you might have to wait for a while. e.l.f. dropped the lip balm on Wednesday, February 24, but by the following day, it was completely sold out on its website. Its dill pickle flavor is only meant to be a limited edition item, and we hope that it wasn’t the only one that it was gonna do, if only so we can get a broader consensus about what this thing smells and tastes like.
Until it releases more, though, you might have to just make do with all of the other novelty dill pickle-flavored products out there. Want a snack? Pick up some Flamin’ Hot Dill Pickle Puffs from Cheetos (they’re actually pretty good). Prefer to douse your food with pickle-y notes? Guy Fieri’s got you covered with his new Dill Pickle Aioli Flavortown sauce. The world is your vinegary, sour, slightly earthy oyster. Well, as long as you like pickles, that is.
