Khloé Kardashian makes protein-packed popcorn. Say that three times fast and it still won’t make sense. Recently, I publicly labeled myself as a popcorn hater in a differentpopcorn review. Despite my personal taste, Khloud (Khloé Kardashian’s protein popcorn company) sent over samples of all three Khloud flavors—let’s see if we can keep up.
Pros: All three Khloud flavors are super light in texture. If you like that style of bagged popcorn, Khloud is (appropriately) as fluffy as a cloud.
Cons: My partner makes homemade popcorn with olive oil and sea salt, so they were especially qualified to judge this particular flavor. And let me tell you, it was judged. There is basically no flavor here, but there sure is a chalky texture thanks to the milk protein isolate coating every piece. That chalkiness sticks around in your mouth too, even if you only eat a single piece—this was a casual sensory nightmare.
Pros: It’s genuinely impressive that they’ve packed 7 grams of protein into just a cup of popcorn. One cup of Skinny Pop contains less than a single gram of protein, so Khloud is truly groundbreaking in the innovative field of “getting gains from popcorn.”
Cons: Why does the White Cheddar Khloud smell like peanuts? It is better than Olive Oil & Sea Salt because it at least has a flavor—but it’s not a great one. There’s a funkiness to this “white cheddar” cheese that makes going back for more a real struggle.
Pros: After the first two flavors, I had absolutely no hope Khloud’s take on kettle corn would be any good. But I was absolutely floored—this is pretty good! It’s practically a revelation after the last two flavors. Protein packed popcorn made with sea salt and cane sugar? Khloud, stop digging—you struck oil. Ditch the other two flavors and stick with the kettle corn!
Cons: That chalky texture is still in play here, but it’s buried by some of the stronger, better flavors. Basically, the texture is worth it for the kettle corn sweetness.
