Krispy Kreme’s St. Paddy’s Day Menu Includes the Chance to Win Free Donuts for a Year

Is there anything like hearing the phrase “free donuts” to improve your mood? We don’t think so – and neither does Krispy Kreme, clearly. The chain has been on a bit of a freebie run of late; just yesterday, we brought you the news that it was giving away free donuts to mark the start of Daylight Saving Time, and now it’s going even bigger. Next week, it’s giving people the chance to score free donuts for a full year, in honor of good old St. Patrick.

Alongside this announcement, Krispy Kreme has also just dropped its St. Patrick’s Day menu in stores, from today, March 10, to March 17. Here’s everything you need to know about it all. 

All You Need Is a Golden Ticket- Er, Sorry, a Golden Pass

First, let’s talk about the obvious: These free donuts. Krispy Kreme will be handing out 4,000 Lucky You Golden Dozen Passes at random to customers who grab items in-store or in its drive-thru on March 16 and 17. If you’re given one of these passes, you’ll get a dozen free donuts per month for a full year. Now, I’m not a betting man, so I have absolutely no idea how good the odds are here – but regardless, I like those odds.

The only catch is that, when you turn up to your preferred Krispy Kreme on one of these days, you have to be wearing green (in honor of St. Paddy, of course). However, in return for this, every customer will get one of its free Green O’riginal Glazed donuts. And they don’t even have to buy anything for that one! In our humble opinion, that’s worth the minimal effort of putting on a jade-colored sweatshirt. 

The Rest of the Rings

In addition to this bannerhead free offer, Krispy Kreme will also be offering its full St. Patrick’s Day menu in participating locations for the next week. The donuts it’s sellin’ are:

• Shooting Shamrock – an Original Glazed donut coated in a green vanilla icing topper, and given the St. Paddy’s Day treatment with green icing loops and a shamrock decoration. 
• Over The Rainbow – one of Krispy Kreme’s unglazed donuts, filled with cream, dipped in green vanilla icing, and topped with shamrock sprinkles and a rainbow.  
• Plaid Party – an Original Glazed doughnut topped with vanilla icing and green icing drizzles. Simple, but effective (and on-theme). 
• Chocolate Iced with St. Patrick’s Sprinkles – as the name suggests, a chocolate-iced Original Glazed donut, finished with green and white sprinkles. This one looks very Simpsons to us. 

Krispy Kreme’s lineup looks pretty nice, but it’s got competition this year: Crumbl is also dropping a big ol’ St. Patrick’s Day menu from this Sunday, and it looks, in typical style, very extravagant. It’s a battle of the baked goods!
