If I asked you, “What do you think Martha Stewart’s favorite snack is?” What would you say? (That’s a great icebreaker question, by the way, and you can have it.) You’d probably guess she nibbles on carrots from her garden or locally made goat cheese crostini or maybe you’d guess it was a trick question and she doesn’t snack at all. Wrong on all counts!
We’ve done some digging and found that Martha has a few favorite snacks. One is a classic, another is luxe as hell, and others are way out of left field. Here’s what Martha snacks on:
A Spoonful of Peanut Butter
In an interview with Town and Country, Martha said that her “guilty pleasure” was a “spoon of really good organic peanut butter.” She doesn’t reveal her go-to brand, but our pick for the best organic peanut butter is Santa Cruz Organic Dark Roasted Peanut Butter.
A Slice of American Cheese
Here’s the weird one. In that same interview with Town and Country, Martha admitted that she will grab “a slice of American cheese from my housekeeper’s drawer. I steal American slices sometimes—in the plastic, it’s so horrible. But it’s such a good snack.” Hopefully she replaces the missing slices.
Pickled Herring
Martha’s late night snack? Some pre-bedtime pickled herring. “It’s savory and good,” she says. Look, I love pickled herring more than most but even I’m not ending the evening on that flavor profile.
Liverwurst
“I love squeezing it out of the tube and just eating calves’ liverwurst,” she says. Before you get angry, yes, she knows “how bad it is now.”
Ruffles, Sour Cream, & Caviar
As she recently told Delish, her current favorite snack is a little more what we were expecting from Martha: Ruffles potato chips topped with sour cream and caviar, which she cheekily calls “the poor man’s potato chip.” If you want to try it for yourself, check out our ranking of the best caviar under $25. Because most of us don’t have Martha money.
