Dirty Dew is like that classmate you had a crush on in middle school that was embarrassed to show you any affection. First, they spent a year teasing us with leaks and whispers about the release. Then, they gave us an exclusive taste this past December, but wouldn’t actually commit to a hard launch date. It was move that left us pining for them, because we were actually pretty happy with how the soda turned out and were excited for you all to get a chance to try it, too.

Finally, after way too long, they’ve released Dirty Dew for the masses

Earlier this week, Mountain Dew took to social media to finally announce that Dirty Dew would be available everywhere. It’s like your classmate finally kissed you in the hallway so you can finally prove to others that the relationship was real. Dirty Dew’s being released in a regular recipe and a zero sugar version, and both will be available in 20-ounce single bottles and 12-packs of 12-ounce cans in stores everywhere. Oh and that other good news I mentioned: Dirty Dew is a permanent addition to the Mountain Dew lineup, which means the brand really believes in it (and thinks you will, too).

So is Dirty Dew actually worth rushing out for?

Sporked contributor Tyler Bowers says yes! It’s a pretty resounding yes for the original recipe of Dirty Dew. It’s like a beautiful blend between regular Mountain Dew and a cream soda. A creative way around the trickiness of canning a shelf-stable version of what a dirty Dew is supposed to be, Mountain Dew with dairy added in. The sugar free version was also able to stick the landing so really, you can’t go wrong either way you choose to do the Dew.
