AMC Teases New Mystery Popcorn Flavor Inspired by a Popular Movie Snack

We love a mystery. Well, we love a mystery when it’s a harmless one – unsolved crimes and mysterious embezzlements are less up our street, even though they do still pique our interest – but thankfully, AMC has delivered on that front, in a move that’s creating intrigue that only the best on-screen Agatha Christie adaptation could match.

Is that hyperbolic? Of course. But we’re definitely excited that it’s been teasing a new mystery popcorn flavor over on Instagram, and we’ve been thinking very, very seriously about what it could be. Here’s the deal, and our biggest suspicions. 

AMC’s New Mystery Popcorn Flavor (Insert the “Shh” Emoji Here)!

The movie theater teased this new mystery flavor for its Perfectly Popcorn range, which it first released back in 2023. Since then, it’s kept things relatively simple with its offers in this range, sticking to the classics (salted, butter, that kinda thing), but this new flavor is apparently inspired by everyone’s favorite place at the movies: The concession stand. 

Which means that we can expect something a little bolder than your standard popcorn flavors, and our minds have already gone into overdrive trying to figure out what it could be. If I had to put money on it, I’d say that this might be a nacho cheese flavor. AMC previously offered this in its theaters as a limited-time option last year, so we know that it can do it, and it’s kinda as easy as just sprinkling cheese dust onto popcorn, so…yeah. Chocolate-flavored popcorn would also be a cool move, and it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

Over on AMC’s Instagram, though, people are going even bolder with their guesses. One comment advocated for glizzy flavored popcorn, which we guess could be done…but we’re not quite sure about it, if we’re honest. We’ll just have to wait and see what AMC’s got in store (or, should we say, in STORES) for us. 

We Come to This Place for Snacking

AMC’s getting pretty bold with its snack and drink options lately, and this new mystery flavor is the latest in a series of moves that make its food a touch more, well, interesting. A couple of weeks back, we brought you the news that it was serving up a new Starry Astrophage Burst to celebrate the release of Project Hail Mary. People who go to see The Devil Wears Prada 2 (which will obviously be all of us) will also be treated to a popcorn bucket shaped like a handbag, which is almost as iconic as the fashion that Miranda Priestley will no doubt be wearing in the movie.
