Sorry, Costco. There’s a new, notable hot dog in town. Ikea just added an extra long hot dog to its menu that is half a meter long. Now that’s the kind of sustenance you need after hours spent building your brand new Järvfjället.

A half-meter hot dog? Speak imperial!

Ikea’s new hot dog measures around 20 inches. For comparison sake, a Costco hot dog comes in at around 8 inches. So this new Ikea hot dog is about two and a half times bigger. It should be noted that only the hot dog is 20 inches. It extends far beyond the standard bun.

Where can you get this new Ikea hot dog?

Ah, there’s the catch. As of right now, the hot dog is only available at Ikea locations in the United Arab Emirates. The brand dropped the somewhat graphic image on their IKEAUAE Instagram account, simply writing, “More to love, more to enjoy. Introducing our half-meter hot dog, now available for Dhs 19.” That equals out to a little over $5 USD.

Is this new, extra-long hot dog coming to America?

There’s no signs that the half-meter hot dog is coming to the U.S. any time soon, unfortunately. But the attention this new dog is receiving online might change that. If it does come here, Ikea may have to rethink the name. Americans don’t really do meters. Will we be looking at a half-yard hot dog? Only time will tell! Until then, we’ll just have to stick with Ikea’s surprisingly good veggie dogs

Hi! I’m the editor-in-chief of Sporked. I will never turn down a fresh-shucked oyster but I’ll also leap at whatever new product Reese’s releases and I love a Tostitos Hint of Lime, even if there is no actual lime in the ingredients. Why you should trust me: I have been writing about food and beverages for well over a decade and am an avid at-home cook and snacker. I began my career writing about fine dining and recipes, moved into cocktails and spirits, and now I talk about groceries. If you can eat it or drink it, I’ve probably written about it. What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s dried okra. Appleton Farms prosciutto from Aldi. Some sort of Trader Joe’s cheese (I’m into the aged gouda at the moment). Frozen waffles (usually the Eggo Cinnamon Toast Minis). Spindrift water (loving the Cosmopolitan right now). Favorite ranking: Smoked salmon. Imagine me as Scrooge McDuck but instead of coins I’m diving into a vault of slippery smoked salmon slices. Pure joy. I also found some real steals in that taste test! Least favorite ranking: Canned oysters. I had such high hopes for this but it quickly became a chore. The kitchen smelled like an uncleaned aquarium.
