Why do you like baseball? Is it for, y’know, the actual sport itself? If so, I salute you, and I get it – as someone with perpetually bad aim and who can’t really run around corners that well, I really do respect those players. Or is it for the food? Because, for folks like us, that’s naturally the main event. And MLB Stadiums definitely deliver. These venues know exactly how to draw crowds to their food stands with some wild and wacky creations. They may be expensive, but hey, at least they’re interesting.

And this year, MLB Stadiums are pushing the boat out even more. There are a lot of pretty out-there food and drink options that are being served around the country, and we’re bringing you the most delightfully strange of them all, and where you can get them.
Bao Bun Hot Dogs, Anyone?
Now, it should be said that there are a loooot of new items that have been introduced this year (head over to Levy Restaurants’ press room site for just some of ‘em, but we’re duty-bound to bring you the strangest – and so the strangest we shall deliver. First up, we’ve got the Bao Wow Dog, available at Wrigley Field (home of the Chicago Cubs), which is a mash-up of a hot dog and a bao bun, complete with slaw and a crispy tempura piece. Our eye was also drawn to the slightly worryingly named Machete, which fans of the Miami Marlins can find at LoanDepot Park, and which is a huge quesadilla filled with carne asada, a guajillo pepper sauce, salsa verde, and two types of cheese.
You’ve also got Settling The Beef, a frankly massive Reuben sandwich which Chicago White Sox lovers can chow down on. Oh, and Houston Astros devotees have access to a Brisket Donut, which we can only assume is a…brisket in a donut. Want something sweet to finish things off? Try the Ube Coconut Rice Krispies at the home of the Seattle Mariners (to be honest, those do look seriously good).
And to Drink?
You guessed it, there are some wild drink options available this year too – although some of them sound right up our street. If you’re in the mood for a Watermelon Habanero Margarita – and honestly, who isn’t – you can get one at the Dodgers’ stadium. Those in the market for something significantly heavier can get themselves a Ballgame Shake next time they’re watching the Arizona Diamondbacks, which is a hulking milkshake topped with a million different types of candy, including caramel corn and Kit Kat pieces. The Tampa Bay Rays also have a shake of their own, the Oreo Brownie Milkshake, which is topped with half a brownie and an inverted ice cream cone.
If we really need to say it, these aren’t healthy foods by any stretch of the imagination – but they’re definitely fun. Let us know which new options you’ve found at your stadium.
