A new Reese’s Peanut Butter shape has hit shelves—and it’s unlike any other we’ve seen before. We’ve had big shapes and small shapes, individually packaged shapes and shapes packed in pairs. But this is the first time we’ve gotten a bunch of teeny tiny Reese’s shapes unwrapped in one bag. Fun! (I take the joy in life where I can get it these days, okay?) It’s Reese’s Peanut Butter Mini Pumpkins!
I got my hands on a bag of the brand new Reese’s product and I’m ready to share my review, just in time for you to start making your Halloween candy shopping list. What? You don’t start yours in August? You don’t even have one?! I guess we have our own priorities.
Pros: These new Reese’s shapes have one of the best chocolate-to-peanut-butter-filling ratios out of any Reese’s shape I’ve had. So many Reese’s shapes are far to full of peanut butter, but these are perfect. You get just the right amount of smooth, creamy chocolate before your tooth meets the sweet-salty peanut butter filling. And the size is great. They’re a delightful little treat and would totally be great as an ice cream topping.
Cons: They don’t really look like pumpkins. I asked my five-year-old what they looked like and he said, turtles? To me, they look like fat toes with tiny toenails. That doesn’t make them any less tasty. Sorry! They do! And they’re not shiny. They’re matte. Most Reese’s shapes are matte—but I wish, overall, they looked more like they do on the package.
Hi! I’m the editor-in-chief of Sporked. I will never turn down a fresh-shucked oyster but I’ll also leap at whatever new product Reese’s releases and I love a Tostitos Hint of Lime, even if there is no actual lime in the ingredients.
Why you should trust me: I have been writing about food and beverages for well over a decade and am an avid at-home cook and snacker. I began my career writing about fine dining and recipes, moved into cocktails and spirits, and now I talk about groceries. If you can eat it or drink it, I’ve probably written about it.
What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s dried okra. Appleton Farms prosciutto from Aldi. Some sort of Trader Joe’s cheese (I’m into the aged gouda at the moment). Frozen waffles (usually the Eggo Cinnamon Toast Minis). Spindrift water (loving the Cosmopolitan right now).
Favorite ranking: Smoked salmon. Imagine me as Scrooge McDuck but instead of coins I’m diving into a vault of slippery smoked salmon slices. Pure joy. I also found some real steals in that taste test!
Least favorite ranking: Canned oysters. I had such high hopes for this but it quickly became a chore. The kitchen smelled like an uncleaned aquarium.
