If you like Snickers but wish it was more in line with your extreme lifestyle, then hop off your BMX and listen up, because we’ve got good news. After nearly a decade, Snickers Xtreme is back.

If you’re not familiar with the lore of Snickers Xtreme, allow me to catch you up. Back in 2015, Mars released a new Snickers bar that skipped the nougat and packed in the peanuts and caramel—and they let the fans pick the name. People voted via Facebook for one of five names: Snickers Go Nuts, Snickers #MoreNuts, Snickers Xtreme, Snickers Nuts Galore, and Snickers Nuts. Snickers Xtreme won.

The candy bar was only available for a limited time, but it’s finally making its triumphant return to shelves this December. But is Snickers Xtreme actually any good? Or are folks just nostalgic for 2015? I tried this returning/new Snickers bar to find out.

New/Returning Snickers!

Snickers Xtreme

Pros: This Snickers really is totally packed with peanuts and caramel. There’s so much filling. The bar is fat—it’s downright huge. If a regular Snickers does not, in fact, satisfy you because it’s not big enough, then Snickers Xtreme will. The peanuts are good. The caramel is good. The chocolate is satisfactory. It’s a big ol’ chocolate candy bar filled with caramel and peanuts—how bad can it be?

Cons: It’s not really that different from a regular Snickers. I even thought I tasted some nougat in the mix before I really examined the bar. It’s just bigger and fatter. And they should have gone with Nuts Galore. It’s a much funnier name.

Hi! I’m the editor-in-chief of Sporked. I will never turn down a fresh-shucked oyster but I’ll also leap at whatever new product Reese’s releases and I love a Tostitos Hint of Lime, even if there is no actual lime in the ingredients. Why you should trust me: I have been writing about food and beverages for well over a decade and am an avid at-home cook and snacker. I began my career writing about fine dining and recipes, moved into cocktails and spirits, and now I talk about groceries. If you can eat it or drink it, I’ve probably written about it. What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s dried okra. Appleton Farms prosciutto from Aldi. Some sort of Trader Joe’s cheese (I’m into the aged gouda at the moment). Frozen waffles (usually the Eggo Cinnamon Toast Minis). Spindrift water (loving the Cosmopolitan right now). Favorite ranking: Smoked salmon. Imagine me as Scrooge McDuck but instead of coins I’m diving into a vault of slippery smoked salmon slices. Pure joy. I also found some real steals in that taste test! Least favorite ranking: Canned oysters. I had such high hopes for this but it quickly became a chore. The kitchen smelled like an uncleaned aquarium.
