Psyduck is the best Pokémon. Now that I have that out of the way, let’s talk about the big Pokemon news. Hershey has partnered with Pokémon on a wild new promotion: wrapping a few Hershey’s products with over 150 different pocket monsters. While there aren’t any new products in this collaboration, we can still cover all the different aspects of this brand collision.
They’re putting Pokémon on the Kisses?
Oh, they’re putting every single Generation 1 Pokémon on Kisses. Specifically, the Kisses will be wrapped in Pokéball-style foil and the images of Pokémon will be on the bottoms. (For the people who went outside as kids, “Generation 1” refers to every Pokémon creature introduced in the first trio of Pokémon games for the Game Boy.) So, if you’re looking to collect them all, you’ll be looking for 151 different Kisses in total—from Bulbasaur to Mew. You can even head to the promotional website to sign up for your chance to win a Collector’s Case designed to hold all 151 different Kisses.
And they’re also putting Pokémon on the chocolate bars?
In addition to the Pokéball wrappers gracing all these Kisses, Hershey has also picked 12 different Pokémon to appear on full-size Hershey’s chocolate bars: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, Eevee, Psyduck, Jigglypuff, Meowth, Gengar, Snorlax, Charizard, and Mew. (There are 18 different Pokémon on the snack-size bars; unfortunately, I wasn’t able to track down confirmation of which species are featured in that format.)
Where can I find these Pokémon-branded chocolate goodies?
Per the official announcement, these are available at “participating retailers.” That said, the product pages on the Hershey website made a point of stating these are specifically available at Target. I’d check there first if you’re really trying to collect them all.
Why don’t we see more Pokémon food collaborations?
The last wide-release Pokémon food product I can quickly think of is Pop-Tarts. “Poké Berry” Pop-Tarts came out in the very early 2000s; I remember them tasting distinctly identical to other fruity Pop-Tarts. Other countries regularly get adorable Pokémon-themed pastries and coffees. Here in the States, we get a Pokémon Happy Meal every few years and that’s it. Can Krispy Kreme get on a call with their foreign counterparts to figure out how to get some damn Pokéball donuts over here?
This collab sounds amazing! 🍫✨ I’d definitely be hunting for a full set of wrappers—kind of like building the perfect Pokémon team where every piece counts. For me, Charmander will always be the starter of choice. 🔥 You can also check it here: http://buildpokemonteam.com/
