Summer is almost over which means one thing: The Halloween people are upon us. The home decor stores are stuffed to the gills with witchy Hello Kitties and Martha Stewart’s idea of a ghost, and the grocery stores aren’t far behind. Case in point, Fanta just announced a spooky seasonal rebrand featuring five different child-unfriendly characters—one of which is gracing his own brand new flavor. (If you’re a voracious reader, you may remember me covering that new flavor sans spoilers earlier this year.) Let’s get into all the grisly details…before it’s too late.

What’s the new Halloween Fanta flavor?

Fanta’s new Chucky’s Punch flavor is hitting shelves now, featuring Chucky’s unique striped sweater’s pattern as the backdrop to the Good Guy doll himself bursting out of the can. Officially described as a berry fruit punch, Chucky’s Punch will be available in 12oz can 12-packs along with 20oz bottles. (Sorry, zero sugar fans, Chucky’s Punch is full sugar only.) I haven’t gotten samples just yet, but you know I’ll be reviewing this for Sporked ASAP.

Which characters are on the other Halloween Fanta flavors?

There’s a surprisingly modern mix of characters used in this promotion, which is a collaboration with Universal Pictures. There’s no Frankenstein, Wolfman, or Mummy to be found. Instead, you’ll see Five Nights at Freddy’s’ Freddy Fazbear on both full and Zero Sugar Orange Fanta sodas, The Grabber from The Black Phone on the Strawberry Fanta, and Michael Myers of Halloween fame on the Pineapple Fanta. Additionally, Coca-Cola Freestyle machines will feature M3GAN on the Grape Fanta—he participation trophy equivalent for this promotion.

Aren’t those a little…scary?

I know, right? I’m genuinely surprised Fanta co-signed slapping the faces of four iconic child murderers on their sodas. (To my knowledge, Michael Myers hasn’t specifically gone after little kids before; feel free to correct me in the comments, Halloween fans.) I think part of the reason the classic Universal Monsters are used so frequently is that they’re pretty harmless. The Grabber’s whole thing is abducting and killing kids—and now he’s on a soda! Not to be morbid, but if any soda brand was gonna do this, Fanta has always had a dark side.
