While the cult favorite GHOST Rainbow Sour Strips flavor has been released several times over the years (including a release that is going on right now), it has managed to evade me—until today. Thanks to GHOST Insider and Enthusiast HVVY and his group full of GHOST fanatics, “GHOST ENERGY – Be a legend,” I finally nabbed a few cans.

Is it really worth all the hype? Was it worth all the effort? GHOST has virtually always impressed me with their wide variety of releases, so it’s time to crack into Rainbow Sour Strips and find out.

New(ish) GHOST Flavor!

GHOST Rainbow Sour Strips Review

Pros: I always like to call out great packaging (the folks responsible are unsung heroes who don’t always get the credit they deserve) and Rainbow Sour Strips has one of the best can designs for GHOST I’ve ever seen. As with all GHOST Energy drinks, I am very happy to see both no dyes and zero sugar—both mark huge wins for an energy drink. In terms of the flavor, they nailed the sour part.

Cons: I’m not sure if it’s that I don’t like Sour Strips candy and this is TOO accurate or what, but I’m certainly not a fan of this. It’s mostly just sour followed by the aftertaste of zero sugar sweeteners with no real candy flavor. Maybe I came into this expecting something it was never going to taste like, but I’m not impressed.

Verdict: If you’re a fan of sour, this might be worth checking out, but if you’re like me and were expecting something a bit more akin to Airheads Xtremes in energy drink form, this is probably not for you.
