HARIBO and Jennie have teamed up to launch the long-awaited Ruby Hearts gummies, first teased by Korea’s most followed Instagram account back in April. If any part of that sentence confused you, go ahead and read my newspiece about these new gummies before moving ahead with the review. I will not stop the lecture for questions.
HARIBO was nice enough to send over an early bag of Ruby Hearts so I could avoid the riots in my local Target’s candy aisle over these “collectible piece[s] of candy culture.” I’ve already had K-Pop-flavored Coca-Cola, let’s see if the genre translates any better into candy.
Pros: These gummies are big. I’m used to HARIBO Goldbears, but these hearts are easily two or three times the size and chewy as all hell. Seriously, you gotta work on these. While most sour gummies are actually just sweet gummies coated in citric acid, these new HARIBO gummies are genuinely sour to the core. Since there’s no coating, the sour flavor permeates the entire gummy…
Cons: …or at least, half the gummies. It turns out there are two different flavors of gummy per pack, defined by a slight color variation. The lighter-colored hearts are pure sour, while the darker-colored hearts are all sweet. If these were smaller gummies, I could see folks having both flavors at once, but these are big and dense. Tackling both ends of the sweet-sour spectrum simultaneously is a struggle. I would love to see an updated version that blends the two gummy formulas into one heart—take the Twin Snakes technology and use it for this.

Where can I get HARIBO Jennie’s Edition Ruby Hearts?
These limited-edition gummies are exclusive to Target and you better start hunting ASAP. Per HARIBO, these are in short supply and are expected to sell out. I haven’t heard anything to suggest this officially, but I imagine strong sales could result in a Ruby Hearts restock in the future or even a new gummy shape/flavor alongside a future album release by Jennie. Can you imagine an album box set that includes HARIBO gummies? Eat your heart out, Taylor.
Which BLACKPINK member deserves a HARIBO gummy next?
