The Tastiest THC Beverage for Dry January Cocktail Cravings

There is no shortage of THC-based drinks, as the market expands to meet the demands of many who have ditched the booze and are seeking alternatives. There are THC seltzers that are Thanksgiving-inspired, taste like Piña Coladas, and even root beer-flavored. Whether you’re doing Dry January and want something that’ll give you a slight buzz or are looking for a flavorful alcohol-free alternative while permanently abstaining from drinking, the award-winning New Orleans-based brand crafts its THC-infused seltzers with natural ingredients, focusing on creating rich flavor profiles. Launched in the fall of 2023, Louie Louie isn’t yet one of the leading THC product brands, but I think it should be. It’s one of the most exciting seltzers I’ve tried.

Louie Louie currently offers five variations: Hurricane Punch, Strawberry Spritz, Blackberry Lemon, Hibiscus Cherry, and Satsuma, with Ginger Cucumber coming soon. My local store only had the 5mg Satsuma four-pack, so that’s what I grabbed.

Within the first sip, I was struck by how much it reminded me of an Aperol Spritz. Satsumas are a sweet and tangy type of mandarin, but when paired with cinnamon and thyme, their sweetness takes on an earthy essence. It’s fragrant and alluring, with no two sips tasting the same; sometimes the cinnamon notes are prominent, while the next sip can shift to the satsuma’s sugariness. While I have a huge sweet tooth, I love that it isn’t as sweet as other THC brands I’ve tried recently, like Amigos, which tastes like soda.

I’ve been alcohol-free since the fall of 2024, and tend to use THC to tame PMDD symptoms, so my tolerance has slightly increased in the past year. While Louie Louie didn’t give me any type of high because my body’s adjusted to frequently drinking THC seltzers, that didn’t take away from the experience of drinking it. I found myself going for seconds, even having one before bed.

The Louie Louie Satsuma seltzer received the Silver High Spirits Award in 2024, and it’s easy to see why. While leading THC seltzer brands go for recognizable flavors you’d find in regular seltzer, like lime and berries, Louie Louie dares to take a bolder route. Each can is 50 calories and contains 12g of sugar, so while it’s not as calorific as other brands, it’s not the most health-forward option. However, it’s worth it for the satisfying taste.
