Mountain Dew Is Teasing Baja Blast Gum on Instagram

The power of Baja Blast shouldn’t be understated, people. This Mountain Dew flavor, which combines the classic, crisp, citrusy taste of the original drink with a tropical twist, has been more than a fan favorite since it launched way back in 2004 at Taco Bell restaurants. For a lot of people, it’s almost sacred. Who knew soda could have that effect? 

So, throughout the years, it’s probably no shock that Mountain Dew has done an almost infinite amount of capitalizing on the success of the original drink, releasing countless different flavors, alcoholic varieties, and even foods like Baja Blast Pie and Baja Blast Gelato. And it looks like its latest project is cutting out the soda altogether. Last week, Mountain Dew began teasing Baja Blast Gum over on its Instagram, and we’re all salivating at the thought of it. 

What Do We Know About Baja Blast Gum?

To be honest, not much. No one does, apart from the good people over at PepsiCo. Mountain Dew’s post was clearly designed to drum up excitement and anticipation, instead of giving us release dates or anything like that. It also kept things vague on whether the gum was actually real in the Instagram post… although let’s be honest, it’s pretty clearly on its way, unless something drastically goes wrong. 

What we do know is that if this product is in fact real, then Mountain Dew is promising that it’ll have “notes of Tropical Lime and sea spray that’ll have you chompin’ at the bit.” The gum also appears to be in classic stick form (which we love) and made with 100% Baja Blast (which we also love, for the sheer fact that this means that it’ll actually taste like the drink). Other than that, though, there’s no word on nutrition or whether it’s a sugar-free gum or not. Mountain Dew’s playing it coy for now. Which is clearly working, because we’re talking about it!

Baja Blast Fans Are Ready For The Chew

Normally, when food companies tease new products on their social media accounts, they get inundated with trolls saying how terrible they sound. Here, though? People are ready. “Oh my goodness I’m literally frothing at the mouth,” said one commenter, with countless others chiming in saying that they’re ready for Baja Blast Gum to drop. “It’s not April, there’s no time for jokes,” stated another. We agree. Stop toying with us, Mountain Dew. 

Judging by this post alone, though, we’d hope that we don’t have too long to wait for Baja Blast Gum to make an appearance. In the meantime, you’ll just have to make do with the regular soda, or one of its many different varieties.
