What’s your main complaint about Pop-Tarts? Is it that the pastry is too dry? That the frosting doesn’t go all the way to the edges? That there’s just not enough…stuff inside? If you’ve ever been of the opinion that Pop-Tarts were a little light on filling, the folks at Kellanova have finally addressed your criticism: Super Stuffed Pop-Tarts are rolling out in April.

What are Super Stuffed Pop-Tarts?

Pop-Tarts with more stuff inside! Fifty percent more, to be exact. They’re launching in three flavors—Strawberry Blast, Molten Lava Cake, and Cinnamon Caramel—and they come in packs of five. Yep, only five Super Stuffed Pop-Tarts in a box versus eight regular Pop-Tarts in a typical box. I am a nutcase and I’m also super sensitive to shrinkflation, so I did a little math. Indulge me if you will…

A regular box of 8 Pop-Tarts is 13.5 oz, while this box of 5 Super Stuffed Pop-Tarts is 10.9 oz. That means each Super Stuffed Pop-Tart is 2.18 oz, so if there were SIX in a box, the box would be 13.08 oz., which is still lighter than a regular box of Pop-Tarts. WHY DIDN’T THEY PUT SIX IN THE BOX? Anyway, something to think about, Kellanova…

But HEY! How do they taste? That’s probably what you came here to find out, huh? I tried all three flavors after heating them in the toaster oven and I’m ready to tell you.

New Pop-Tarts!

Super Stuffed Pop-Tarts Cinnamon Caramel

Pros: These are certainly different! Last year, my buddy Jordan Myrick and I taste tested every Pop-Tarts flavor and none of them were like this. The filling is slick and gooey, like a cross between pudding and caramel. It’s sweet (more on that in a sec), but there is some dimension to the flavor profile—I would have thought these were salted caramel, for what it’s worth.

Cons: WOOF are these sweet. They would have been sweet if they had the standard amount of filling, so with even more, this is squarely a dessert, not a breakfast. My husband and I split one after dinner and I couldn’t even finish my half. But he did sheepishly confess to me that he ate a second one this morning, so even if they aren’t for me, they’re certainly for other people.

New Pop-Tarts!

Super Stuffed Pop-Tarts Molten Lava Cake

Pros: Chocolate-filled Pop-Tarts aren’t a thing I would ever think to buy, but when I tasted Frosted Chocolate Fudge and Frosted Chocolate Chip in our 2025 taste test, I was genuinely surprised by how much I liked the stretchy, fudgy filling. It has a rich cocoa flavor (again, it’s sort of pudding adjacent) and it’s not as nauseatingly sweet as you might think it would be. This filling is a lot like that filling, and if you really like it, I don’t see any reason you wouldn’t want 50% more of it.

Cons: A completely maniacal thing to eat for breakfast! But you do you!

New Pop-Tarts!

Super Stuffed Pop-Tarts Strawberry Blast

Pros: This is by far my favorite of the new Super Stuffed Pop-Tarts. The strawberry filling is exactly what you’re expecting—same consistency and tangy flavor—and it’s genuinely nice to have more of it. I really hope they do more fruit flavors in the future. Raspberry is my favorite, if you’re still in the mood to listen to customer feedback, Kellanova. (Also, PUT THEM IN BOXES OF SIX, DAMMIT.)

Cons: This one suffered from the same problem all of them suffered from: the pastry crust is super crumbly! I had a hard time putting them in the toaster oven without them falling to bits. If you’re using a regular toaster, be prepared to have bits come loose and disappear into the depths of your toaster.

About the Author

Gwynedd Stuart

Howdy! I’m Gwynedd, Sporked’s managing editor. I live in Los Angeles and have access to the best tacos the U.S. has to offer—but I’m a sucker for a crunchy Old El Paso taco night every now and then. I’ve been at Sporked since 2022 and I’m still searching frozen mozzarella sticks that can hold a candle to restaurant sticks. Why you should trust me: I’ve been a journalist for 20 years (yikes), a consumer of food for 40-plus years, and I’m truly hard pressed to think of foods I don’t like (or that I can’t tolerate at the very least). Oh and one time I cooked my way through Guy Fieri’s cookbook and wrote about the journey through Flavortown. What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s Original Savory Thins. Fat free plain yogurt (usually Fage or Nancy’s). Honeycrisp apples. Sweet cream coffee creamer for my at-home Americanos. A frozen cauliflower crust pizza and some jarred mushrooms to top it with. Old El Paso Stand ‘N Stuff taco shells and Gardein Ground Be’f, even though I think “be’f” is a nightmarish contraction. Favorite ranking: Stouffer’s frozen dinners. I don’t own a microwave (I get my cancers the old fashioned way!), so I love taste testing things that I don’t really buy to eat at home. Least favorite ranking: Soy sauce. Don’t get me wrong, I love soy sauce—but consuming that much sodium in one sitting is probably illegal in some countries. Our frozen enchilada taste test was a close second; the smell of microwaved corn tortillas still haunts me.
