Cheez-it Is Teasing… Cereal?

If you think you’re a freak for putting ice in your cereal milk (like me, that’s me), just wait. Here’s a picture on Reddit from some man (I assume it’s a man) showing his breakfast of choice: Cheez-its in cereal milk. The comments are way more supportive than I thought they would be. Maybe ice in your cereal isn’t so bad after all? Hey! Stop throwing tomatoes at me!?

Anyways, Cheez-it must have found this man’s Reddit post pretty inspiring. Because it turns out…

Now Cheez-it is teasing a breakfast cereal on Instagram. 

The first IG teaser was a picture of Cheez-its poured into a bowl of milk with the phrase “Coming Soon.” That’s it. It was vague enough for some people to wonder if Cheez-it plans to launch a new cereal flavor, not a breakfast cereal, which could be interesting. It does have a pretty perfect shape for a cereal snack.

But no. Today, Cheez-it posted a video of a girl pouring a box of “Cheez-it Breakfast Cereal” into a bowl of milk and trying it for herself. In the vid, she claims it kind of just “tastes like Cheez-Its,” but she’s not mad at it. Hmmm….

Right… so this is just an April Fool’s Joke, then?

It’s gotta be. Remember KFC Toothpaste? Eggo Non-Stick Syrup? Cheez-it Cereal is giving that, for sure. I appreciate their dedication to the cause, since they started promoting this days before April Fool’s, but people really aren’t buying it. Per one commenter’s remark on the post, “April Fools is not a week long event.” I think there’s time for Cheez-its to still salvage this, though. The best April Fool’s joke would be convincing everyone this wasn’t real, and then having “Cheez-it Breakfast Cereal” start quietly popping up in stores. Hmm. The line between April Fool’s Day jokes and gaslighting is pretty thin, isn’t it?
