I’m a little afraid to post about this. The kids menu is a hack I frequently use at many, many fast food restaurants, and I’m concerned that the more traction it gets, the faster these deals will be pulled from their menus. Or require a height maximum and/or eligible birth certificate to order from.

Now, the Chipotle kids menu is particularly stellar at saving my grown ass some money. But you have to game it right. So let’s go over your options.

Chipotle kids’ menu has two build-your-own “kits” to choose from: kids’ tacos or kids’ quesadillas. Let me break down both.

  • Kids’ Tacos Kit: Two soft or hard shell tortillas, one choice of protein, two toppings, with a side of chips (or fruit) and a small fountain drink (or apple juice or milk).
  • Kids’ Quesadillas Kit: One soft flour quesadilla, one choice of protein, one choice of rice, one choice of beans, with a side of chips (or fruit) and a small fountain drink (or apple juice or milk).

Both are only $5.95. Which is kinda huge, because a side of chips and guac alone is already priced at $5.10. And a regular fountain drink is $3.15. We’re already over eight bucks, people. Why not just get one of the kids’ build-your-own kits, refill your smaller drink if needed, and opt for the guac as your protein? Admittedly, you get a little less of everything… but a deal is a deal. Plus, you have some extra tacos and/or quesadillas to go with your food.

Can you guess which one I always buy? You’re probably thinking, “Duh. One obviously has better value!” But you’d be wrong. Well, I guess you’d be technically right, but that’s not what I buy.

I always opt for the Kids’ Quesadilla. Now, hold on. Let me explain.

If I was an actual child, the taco kit might sustain me. But if I’m craving tacos, I need more than just three toppings, or I’m going to be sad. That’s just the kind of life I lead, sorry. But a nice cheese quesadilla as an appetizer to the rest of my meal? Sign me up.

Another pro tip: I’ve never had a problem asking for sour cream on the side when I pick up my Chipotle order. They just give it to me for free. And it’s not because I look nice and friendly. I have RBF to the max. Obviously this will vary by location, but many stores consider sour cream a non-premium side that they don’t have to charge for.

Anyways, that’s my hack. If you have your own Chipotle hack, that comment section isn’t sitting there for its health!

Howdy! I’m a Sporked writer based in L.A., and you can find me overstaying my welcome at just about any coffee shop with free wifi, no matter the speed. Sadly, I can never move back to my home state, Florida, because even if the seafood is totally unmatched, there aren’t enough Mediterranean or Korean restaurants to keep me sane.
