Garlic and Onion on a Cookie? I Tried Crumbl’s Everything Bagel Cookie Sandwich and I Have Notes

April Fools’ Day is honestly one of my more favorite holidays—everyone’s favorite brands put their heads together (and sometimes team up) to come up with the wildest product announcements imaginable, both fake and real! One of those real products was one we’ve been talking about for a few days: Crumbl’s one-day only April Fool’s Day Almost Everything Bagel Cookie Sandwich. After a four year hiatus, it’s finally returned—with several twists. And according to Crumbl, it promises to have all of the right seasonings this time. We’ll be the judge of that!

Thanks to the always wonderful team at Crumbl, I had a box of six Almost Everything Bagel Cookie Sandwiches waiting for me at my door, so let’s get to tasting and reviewing.

Crumbl Almost Everything Bagel Cookie Sandwich

Pros: There were reports that the garlic and onion were left out in 2022. They definitely didn’t leave them out this time. You get every element you’d expect from an everything bagel: garlic, onion, poppyseeds, and a cream cheese frosting, which, consistency-wise, is a lot more like cream cheese than traditional cream cheese frosting. The cookies are also the PERFECT level of baked—soft and falling apart.

Cons: My brain is REALLY confused about this. Do I love it? Do I hate it? I don’t honestly know. I am always a sucker for sweet and salty experiences and this is definitely one, but the garlic clashes with the sweet flavors in a really weird way. I’m surprised I’m saying this but my biggest complaint is that the cookie is too sweet. Perhaps if it had been dialed back 10-15%, the sweet and salty factors would have been a touch more balanced.

Verdict: While I wouldn’t run back for seconds of Crumbl’s Almost Everything Bagel Sandwich Cookie, it was a fun experience. And, with a few minor tweaks, I could see it being a genuinely good dessert that you aren’t going to find elsewhere. But as it stands, it’s too sweet for what the rest of the cookie sandwich has going on.
